Fuel tank
Hey Hart Rod what gas tank did use for your truck? I love your idea! I will be going to Home Depot and get me two if them. I think I might go this way and do dual 21 gallon 74 truck tanks.

Re: Fuel tank
They come in pairs, . It's similar to a FuelCellguy tank, but with a deeper sump and a rear feed line.

Re: Fuel filler options
I really like that, can you give some more details? Like what kind of cap that is, etc?

Check out post 92 for some good pics of mine. I gave my bodyman some pics and details, and this is what he came up with.

Re: Fuel filler options
Here's one I saw in an ad just today...
The wood panel is motorized, and it can allow access to air pumps etc, too. Link

Re: Fuel filler options
I used a Hagen flat retractable door. Mounted it in the rear inner fender. This picture does not show the door installed. Very clean look, but slow to fill.

Re: Fuel filler options
I've considered all options, but yours seems the simplest. Exactly where on the wheel tub did you put your hole. I've seen low back side and directly center on top.

Re: Fuel filler options
Not sure if I posted any pics of this set up elsewhere or not so went up to the shop and took a few of what I have. The fuel fill itself came from a 90s Chevy Lumina. Also had to fab a copper elbow I got from a plumber friend of mine to get the correct turn towards the under bed tank. Used fuel hose for both fill and vent lines. The fill cap is centered on the left driver side wheel well hump at about 12'' up from bed floor.
Fills quick with no burping at all. The hose for the tank vent I routed up over the wheel well hump using strap clamps and existing bolt holes. Did this about 10 years ago or more so and have been very pleased with it. Simple but effective. Hope it helps.

Re: Fuel filler options
Hey I am trying to figure out how you made that hinge work as I like the idea.
How did you attach your hinge to your side marker light? Did you epoxy the hinge to the side marker? And what does your U- bracket that you made attach to? I sure would appreciate any input and thanks. I PMd you also about it. |
