Re: Back to the fifties with a 59 project

Been working on patch panels on the wife's 67 but had to wait on parts. So I decided to take the rear end out and do some wire wheeling.

Re: Back to the fifties with a 59 project

I'm still here I don't have to tell you the mess the world's been in last year or so, but I've been working 6,7 days a week for most of the last year or so. I think some relief is on the way so hopefully I can get some family and garage time in. I did manage to order me a Mustang 2 front end kit.

Looks like you're on your way! Removing that whole front crossmember is an option now, you can tie the fronts together using the holes left over from removing the front leaf mounts

Re: Back to the fifties with a 59 project

Since the front crossmember is mostly done, I was going to remove the cab to make it easy to flip the frame around to weld the bottom and clean it etc. But I decided to attack the major parts of the cab that need rust repair, while it's still mounted on the frame and at a decent height. So I've been working on the driver step and got it removed. The inner cab corner need some work as well as the outer.

Re: Back to the fifties with a 59 project

I really suggest you hang your door, adjust it to fit the opening in the cab, not considering the fender just the cab, then weld in an X brace inside across the door opening. That will make sure the door still fits after all the parts are cut out and new stuff is welded in.

Forgot to say the door can be taken off after the X brace is in place.

Well the passenger side begins. Same as other inner and outer cab corner, rocker and step and some misc. patches. The corner was stuffed with junk and and a bunch of nails.
