Re: geezers unite
Hey!! You can't unite the geezers without me. Will be hitting the big 60 in 10 days. Still wrenchin'. Current project a 27 T. Like a big mecano set. Most of the peices already. Frame getting welded up next week. THen I'll have to start a list. Always wanted to build an old rod. Should be running by the time I hit 61 or at least before I kick the bucket. LOL!!!

Re: geezers unite
So since this thread started,I had an experience that makes me want to change the "Geezer" title to the "Butt Light Brigade".
If you haven't then do it.The prep is worse than the procedure.

Re: geezers unite
A liitle update. Hit the big 60 a week ago. Officially collecting a pension from the government. A mear 700 bucks a month but enough to build my T with.
Got the frame built and found a spring and the rest of the stuff to build the front end. Had to cut the 75 year old hardware off the axle. Used my angle grinder and a cut off disc. Set my coveralls on fire with hot grinding slag. TWICE!!! LOL!!! Here's a pic of the hole in my coveralls, my frame etc. Ain't old age grand!!! |

Re: geezers unite
For some reason it takes longer to get these things together I thought I would be on the road by now. Here are a couple of pix of my 70 C-10.
When I picked it up in Feb. This is before I pulled the engine and front cross. member back at my house power washed the under side getting ready to Por 15 the frame and complete under side. Under side with Por 15 and a semi gloss black over coat

Re: geezers unite
got a question... of you older gents out there.
are you totally bow-tie? or do you bridge the brands? me, i'm more style orientated. i love most chevys, but chevy had some bad looking models and a few style-less years. sorry, but thats my opinion. (most 40's chevys, vega, corvair...) ford had some wonderful models and some great styling years. (30's cars, mid-sixties trucks, etc.) seems that most manufacturers had good years and bad, based on their designers. except dodge, dodge has always played catchup with the styling curve. there again, just my opinion... what's yours? |

I just sold a '33 Ford pickup that had the sweetest sounding flathead you've ever heard, and my toy of choice right now is my dually. I prefer Chevy trucks, but if a sweet old Ford hotrod showed up begging to get in the garage, I wouldn't kick it out just because "I was a Chevy man."

Re: geezers unite
But in all my almost 64yrs I have only had 1 dodge truck and 1 Plymoth and 1 Dodge car just don't care for them. Most of what I have had have been chevy's back in the 60' you could pick any 2 dr post tri 5 for $50 or $100. I loved my 2000 Ford SD 4dr short bed and still like the look of the SD's over the Chevy trucks Ford has the most room and best fit for me any way but they are all out of my price range so I will stick with the old ones I can work on. My daily driver is a 01 Implia and my wifes is a 03 Tauras and I think the Tauras is a much better car.

Re: geezers unite
54 years young and hope for many more. Like others I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was. Still playing with toys and enjoying the simple things of life. My first grandson is on the way and I have already restored an old peddle tractor that belonged to my boys growing up and am working on a home made rocking horse that was mine when I was a kid, makes it about 53 years old. Next in line is an old tricycle. I need to get back to my truck but this is fun too.

I'm 63 and don't seem to get around to this place like I did in years past, but I still have my truck, just don't tinker around on it like I used to.

Re: geezers unite
I got'a little over a year to go till 50, If I'was smart I stay where I'm at till then but I aint so I reckon I'm head'd home this summer, got a little money save'd up and the mortgage will gone so I may not be able to retire but I'll be able to coast for a while.
I've had 3 grand daughters born since I left home, one more will be born about the time I get home and my Grandson says he miss's me so I reckon it's there turn !

55 here and still play with trucks. The best part of being a geezer is sayin what you really want to and not giving a rats a$$ what anybody thinks about it !
