Re: Vintage picture thread
My first Chevy truck. Photo taken as I arrived home after buying it from a farmer for $150. Circa 1980, I was about 18. The smile says it all. 1956 C20 long step, 283 and a 4 speed. The farmer told me he had bought it new, and had never washed it. The years of oxidation had protected the paint, and that dark forest green shone like new after a few hours with some compound and a buffer.
Of all the vehicles I have owned, this is the one I most regret selling. 1967 Chevelle SS396 with a Muncie M21 and a 12-bolt posi rear. Photo circa 1982, taken on Peppertree Lane in Simi Valley, CA.

Re: Vintage picture thread
As you can see in the pics the 70 was for sale back then. So it was gone after we used it as a work horse. My dad owned the 67 from 84/85 to 2000/2001 he replace the inline 6 once during that time. Sold it to a graveyard and says they are still using it.Said it was the best dump he's ever owned. By some of the other pics we have I can see why. He loaded that thing up like that all the time. Gotta love

I thought some of the sponsors on that rig looked familiar. Then I made out the Dallas, TEX on the door of the truck. Very cool.

Re: Vintage picture thread
This is from July 1977,, I was about 6 months old but mom put this pic in my baby book. My dads 72 C20, The Blue buick (I don't know what model or year) and my childhood home on the farm I lived in from 0-18 yrs old. Incidentaly when I was in the second grade, I put 3 more dents in that tailgate with my head and got a footpeg stuck in my right calf. from a minibike accident when the throttle stuck open. Yes I was wearing a helmet and no, I don't think that is whats wrong with me.. Think, is a funny word...

The Camaro was pushed into another vehicle by the truck although they hit at odd angles. Top of Camaro is buckled because the front windshield is completely shattered. It's the guy's fault in the background with the Corvette. You can read his lips: "Oh fu....." It happened on a hwy. |

Pics like this & others in this thread are of the America I fell in love with from afar as kid, I always knew that one day when I finished school I would buy me one of those cool cars that I saw in the movies, little did I know that when I would leave school they wouldn't make em like that anymore. But I still have all those beautiful classics to choose from though.
