Re: My 1959 Fleetside Build
Getting my stocker ready for the Lone Star Round-up in Austin Texas in a few weeks. ( Check them out on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/LonestarRoundUp)
I am going to do a few things to help make the trip over a little better. I installed the S10 T-5 today with ease. I got an adapter on Ebay and it made it a breeze. It needs a crossmember to make me feel better. I ordered a 5-lug disc brake kit for the front. I am putting in an S10 disc rear and flipping it. Putting a new M/C with booster on it. I got a set of Cragar 69 smooth wheels that I am gonna swap my wide whites to. I am replacing my side glass with stock units. Got to get a working radio in it. And a new radiator will top it off. The UPS man is gonna hate me. PS. The only mod I had to do to was cut just about a 1/4" off the pilot shaft to make it the exact length of the old one. |

Re: My 1959 Fleetside Build
Got the rear end pulled out. Cut the spring pads off the new rear-end and welded the new ones on. Ready to install it tomorrow.

Re: My 1959 Fleetside Build
Got the new rear end in place after work today. The perches I welded on lined up perfect. Went ahead and flipped it while I had it all apart.
I also took the fender off my other build to show just how tall my wheel/tire combo looked. It almost scares me.... |

Re: My 1959 Fleetside Build
I built it to lay out on 24's with 30 series but went with 22's because it will ride better. I taco-ed two rims on a nice pothole once before and do not want to re-live that ordeal.

Re: My 1959 Fleetside Build
Got the tires put on my new rims. Checked and tightened everything up so I could get some wheels back on. Getting the drive shaft cut tomorrow. I think I can adapt the e-brake to my stock handle also. Hope to drive it this weekend.

Re: My 1959 Fleetside Build
5 lug conversion complete. Disc front and S-10 drum rear.
All 4 tires installed on the new rims. Driveshaft installed. Bleed the brakes and top off fluids tomorrow. Started raining and shut me down. By the way it is still on jack stands in the pic. |
