Yea, I posted in his thread. It was the same day and everything. Guess I wasn't the only one to get a crappy christmas gift.

Absolutely, that truck saved my ass. I don't think I would have been so lucky in a car where the body would of taken all the impact.

Yeah definately, where I live is on a highway and I've seen some pretty scary stuff out here. And I live next to an Elementary school, and I remember one day when I was going to school there walking outside for recess and seeing a van sitting on it's roof. One of our playgrounds was at ma position where you could see the road. I could name at least three stories where people have been killed on the road I live on.

76Step...... Just keep ur chin up and stand ur ground brother, things will work out!

Your not the only one havin bad luck.......I let my 16 yr old drive one of my collector cars and she drove it all the way to the river to meet us with the "E-Brake ON" and when she pulled up the tire caught fire.......wow I would rather pay for the chevy!!

That's what you get for putting 63 Thunderbird hubcaps on a 57

Seriously, as a T-bird guy that pains me to see. Maybe you can get the insurance to pay for a nice set of Kelsey Hayes wheels for the bird.

The carrier is prolly shot but the R&P may be OK. I'd check. If they aren't fubar I'd swap em to an undamaged carrier in a salvage 12 bolt. New seals, shims, & bearings. It's fussy work but you'll have GM 3.73s in the new 12bolt on the cheap.

Just so you know not trying to make you look stupid or anything like that, but I'm not looking for the axle 76stepsidechevy is looking to replace the parts.

Re: some christmas present...

Got another 12 bolt today, 2.76 gears but good housing, nobody in new england had a 3.73. My old setup was shot or I would try swapping my old gear and carrier into the good housing. Looks like the pinion nut backed off and the pinion was getting into the carrier as well as the pinion spun in the bearing. I have new yukon gears coming as well as in install kit, wheels bearings, and an eaton posi carrier. Perfect opportunity to upgrade!

Re: some christmas present...

yup, I got the old rear end and springs pulled last saturday and new bds 6" springs hung under there. Hopefully I'll get the rear end together monday at work and have the truck back running this week. Next week ill sway out the old 4" front springs with new 6" springs to match the rear. Then I can start looking for bed parts and eventually a cab.

Re: some christmas present...

Not too bad, I found a suposedly rust free 87 cab and front clip for 950 but I havent seen it yet. I could probably sell the front clip and my good door for a couple hundred.
