i'm 6'5'' and raise my seats 2'' over stock to get some more leg room.
if you don't have a little ogre blood, results may vary

i cut these off 2'' above where the lower part of my shoulder blade hit the backs.
first time i sat in them i thought i might have cut too much out off the height.
3400 miles in 10 days proved different

I must say that you are a pretty resourceful guy. You seem to do just about everything on your truck. I like your work. As a fellow Michigander maybe I will run into you (not literly) at a show this summer.

and i believe 10,000 ft of speaker wire (approximately )

the monitor is just a cheap ebay headrest monitor, i tested it and know it works, but have never used it.
i wouldn't put one in if i did another console.

cheap speakers are hard on the ears, you get what you pay for...
there are some nice all-in-one amps, it was tough getting 2 amps behind my seat.
that said... i paid $0 for my speakers, sub and amps
all take outs from a sema project that rockford fosgate wanted to sponsor

Ogre, That's quite a setup for near zero $$s! Sounds (no pun intended) like you're pretty much set for tunes. My wife's a big Clapton fan. I guess she just likes bad boys. I'm into vintage rock (some), and oldies in general. I can handle just about anything short of hip-hop & rap, but I understand some like that too.

The Arc Audio is a little pricey for me. Now I'm looking at the Polk Audio DXi6500 (components) at Best Buy (on sale for $149, x2 for kick panels and doors), which spec out better than the Alpines I was looking at for the same $$s.

I'll have to mock up the kick panels to see if I can get 6-1/2"ers in there.

thanks for the kudos i'll try anything once...

you should head over to bakers in milford, they claim to have the worlds longest running weekly car show
and it's free i'm not much of a car show guy, i go, i see, i leave. not into lawn chairs and sitting there all day.
i have never paid to show truk, i built it for me, not to have it someone else ''judge'' my work
and i find the guys at the freebie shows to be a little friendlier...

water and leaves in the cowl vent cause many of the cab rust problems.

the added bonus is that you can do this...



and then this...



kicks are easy if you wrap them in vinyl or carpet, i have no doubt that a set of 6.5'' would fit in there.
i have a 3'' fascia on bottom of my dash, without the fascia you could put 8'' speakers in there

Thanks for the tip on Milford. Cool that it takes place on a Sunday. I hear ya about free shows....I like car shows as it provides a reason to get the truck out for a drive. I kinda follow your motive and go look around and leave.

I may start whacking on the vent today, after ordering the speakers. I'll also be doing the fascia on the bottom of the dash. The frame for the surround behind the seats is done, and the seats are in place.

I just have to keep my truck from looking like a bronze '55 version of yours! (which wouldn't be a bad thing, actually.) Oh well, you know what they say about imitation. You've really solved a lot of the problems I've had (at least the ones on the truck ), including where to put the door latch solenoid. (The console, however, will be very different because my seats are only 5" apart, and I'm only 5'9".)

I feel the same way about shows. In the '80s I won my pile of trophies with my '55 sedan, but those days are done. Me and the lawn chair don't get along either.

Just looked through the whole thread and your truck just BLOWED my socks off.
1. Yellow is my all time ***FAVORITE*** color and your yellow reminds me so much of my S10 blazer and S10 trucks I had back in the day (all where '77 peugeot taxi yellow) and 2. Your craftsmanship is amazing and makes me want to start back from scratch on my interior, although I will be doing the fiberglass under my dash as well. Super truck

1952ssr: thanks for the kudos, when screaming yellow came out on the 04 mustang, i knew i had to have it...
my original interior was pretty sparse, a simple metal dash fascia with room for a head unit and the ac controls.
that is until i started reading fiberglassforums.com, it snowballed from there. tho i am happy with the results.

i checked out your build thread, rear enclosure looks nice, i don't know that i'd change anything.

i chose the easy route...
sand blasted first, then started to hammer the louvers down and realized it was warping the cover.
i just used duraglass (short strand fiberglass filler) and smucked up both sides.
welded in the ends, seam sealed the top edge (windshield edge) and bottom edge.
finished with regular filler. not much to it, really.
when i had my cab blasted i asked the blaster to get inside the cowl and made sure primer covered everything inside.
plus i covered everything in there with undercoating from a can.





i've seen other builds where the louvers were cut out and metal welded in.
not sure which one is better, just telling you what i did and what my body/painter friend told me to do.

thought i'd post this for anyone interested in doing their own powder coating...
i bought the eastwood powder coat gun and some of their powder to try out on my wheels, pulleys, brackets and misc.

this is powder coat central
junk 30'' oven, top burners removed and an old tv box for my spray booth.
because i eliminated the top burners, the oven runs on a 20 amp, 220v circuit



i was working on my rearend at the time so i tried it out on my backing plates and diff cover.
the stock yellow was a little too pastel so i added a touch of red to the mix and it came out perfect.
the backing plates are still yellow pastel, the wheel is the right color yellow.



then i tried my wheels. new steelies from wheels vintiques. 7x15 fronts and 8x15 rears.
they had some cosmoline for rust prevention on them, so i degreased first, then sand blasted with eastwoods blast-in-a-bucket gun.
i baked the wheels to gas off any left over cosmo and degreased another round.



ideally you want to hang and powder coat the whole item, the wheels barely fit in the oven and any action will knock fresh powder off the wheels. i made a rotisserie to sit on the oven rack out of some wood and an old wheel bearing i had laying around. i pulled the rack out as far it would go and lined the door with some cardboard. then proceeded to powder coat



i had to do the wheels in multiple stages, back & inner front and then front & inner back.
the rotisserie worked out great, i was able to coat everything rather well...

for baking; i started out with an infrared thermometer, wait until the wheels were 415f and the powder flowed out, bake at 400f for 15 minutes and just turn off the oven and open the door. i quit using the thermometer when i figured out that by using the oven thermostat light to check for temperature, worked fine.



finished wheel



i powder coated wheels, diff cover, backing plates, front spindles, coil springs, accessory drive brackets and a lot of other small parts. i have black, yellow and red powder that i bought from eastwoods. but have since found out that powderbythepound.com has a big selection of powder online.



of coarse i had to buy 5 wheels and tires for TRUK

found some pictures of my front accessory powder coated pulleys and brackets
my ac compressor bracket is a little industrial looking, but i wanted the ac low on the motor





ps bracket is also home made, 2 flat plates and a couple of 3/8'' tube spacers

i am using an electric fan but had no spot to put the fan temp sensor
i most people put it in the motor or the thermostat housing, neither option was open
and i figure by doing that the fan will run anytime the motor is up to temp or the thermostat opens...

i put the sensor in the lower radiator hose.
figuring that if the water coming out of the radiator is too warm, then the fan would turn on.
i also added a ground stud to the tube because both ends are in rubber.

my over flow tank:
a one foot piece of 3'' -304 ss exhaust tube. flat ends were also cut out of same tube.
3/8'' half coupling welded in for the radiator tube to attach to.
and a piece of 3/8'' tube welded in the bottom that goes almost to the top for a vent/over flow
