Well friends, we've hit 31 preorders! I just sent an e-mail to gaugepods.com to find out what to do next. I believe it will be me sending in my a-pillar for the mockup work.
Now, I think they will do up to three or four molded colors. My intereior is a dark blue, so that's a given. However, if they will do a couple of other colors: what are the most popular stock interior colors out there? I would then need a couple of you to send me your A-pillar so they can match those colors. I don't know if you would get them back but it might be worth it. I will send another e-mail and find out.
A few things:
1. It is requested that no one other than myself e-mail or in a ny way contact gaugepods.com so there is no confusion on their part. I am the sole point of contact both ways.
2. When the time comes, all the money (to be specified later) comes to me, I put it all together and forward it on to the company. This has to happen because I can't foot the whole bill. Don't worry about whether I'm a scam artist. If you send me a cashiers check or USPS money order there's a record of it and then it becomes mail fraud if I "steal" it. You have nothing to worry about--the total amount we're talking about from all the preorders won't be enough to make me rich!

OK, keep checking back often, we're on the way. Any questions or concerns--e-mail me, pm me or post here.

Uh-oh! HELP! I was just browsing through my Chevy Duty catalog and it appears that 75-80 and 81-87 A-pillars may be different! I don't even know about 73-74 as they aren't listed. Of course, I have a Suburban (1991). I'm still thinking that the angle on all the years has to be the same, correct? In other words, are the windshields the same? If so, we will be alright because the angle of the gaugepods will be correct for all.
If you know for sure, post here.

Cool, I'm in for a dual pod then. It does not matter what color cause I have interior paint to make it match.

OK, here's the skinny. I need to send my A-pillar in ASAP. After that, they will quote us a price per pod + shipping and we will have to send in the $ before they start the manufacturing process, which could take up to 2 months for the mockup, actual manufacturing, sending me a rough copy to check for fit and finish and then getting the final product out to us.
My pillar is dark blue and they will accept two other OEM colors BUT we need samples (at least 4"X4" pieces but they prefer other A-pillars in the preferred color). Now remember, it is very easy and cheap to paint interior plastic parts with easy-to-find stuff at local hardware/car parts places. If you want a specific color and want to send me your A-pillar, let me know. I'll be glad to send it in with mine.
Please let me know what ya'll think so far. I haven't heard from a lot of you since you signed on for the preorder so your silence means you agree to everything and we'll go from here.

Alan

Ouch! Thats a long time.

Btw, you can probably buy SEM Interior Plastic paint from Eastwood Co or local automotive paint store or local automotive upolstry(sp) shop that would match the OEM color pretty good.

Yes, its a long time. Does anyone NOT want to go through with this? When I send in my a-pillar we are committed financially. I really need to hear some yea's or nay's on this SOON! Speak now or forever hold your peace, so to speak!
Please let me know...

sign me up for one! I could probably get 2 or 3 others to commit too if thats an issue. One thing: They MUST fit a 73-78 pickup/blazer! Me and my pals dont do 81+ That is the only caveat.

If they're universal, Im in.
