Re: Rusbuilt's 68 C-10
They might just need new lines. I bought a line kit for my other truck at auto zone for like 14 bucks. They'll bounce like that when they're deflated. I used mine a lot when using my neighbors heavy metal lined trailer to haul trucks. It made the truck handle great.
Anyways, Lets see your bedside.

As far as the bedside goes, I have been painting on it so you will have to wait just a little bit longer..

Re: Rusbuilt's 68 C-10
So I stripped the passenger side bedside today and then attempted my take on the fauxtina paint job. Not really happy with it yet, I worked on it until dark. I will post pictures tomorrow.

Re: Rusbuilt's 68 C-10
Ok I did good today. I went to pull-a-part in Knoxville and I bought two steel wheels so now I have a set of four, I also bought a bench seat for $30!! very happy about that.. And I got a good deal on a used welder!
Oh and for you Chuck.... Pictures of the bedside, I am trying to recreate a patina look but it needs more work! What do you guys think?

Re: Rusbuilt's 68 C-10
Thanks!! I stripped it all the way down to metal bc it had so much paint on it already, it had a few small spots of bondo and a few very small places that were rusted through. No bigger than the end of a pencil.

Re: Rusbuilt's 68 C-10
The cable and everything is there, I just haven't messed with it yet. If I drive it, its during the day and I just cruse. So fixing the speedo isn't high on my priority list right now. I've been ordering suspension parts and just messing around with the body, I don't know yet if I am gonna like the patina with the red.

Re: Rusbuilt's 68 C-10
I just read thru your thread. I really like the way you are using it for work as you fix stuff on it. I particularly liked the second pic in Post 64. I was happy to hear that you love your truck. I love mine, too.

Re: Rusbuilt's 68 C-10
lol yeah I had some weight in the bed thats for sure. I don't think I will load it down like that again though, I just really needed that stuff on the job that day. I wish the body was in better shape but for what I have in it I can't complain. It sure is a fun old truck, my wife is even starting to like it. She HATES my 4runner so I was surprised she like the old c10.

Women are funny that way. Mine looked at me all crazy when I came home with the 72, but she was excited to see my 1969 stepside. She's comin' around. Anyway, it's cool to see some other people from TN on here. I live between Murfreesboro and Shelbyville. Maybe we can all meet at that show in White House. Between my friends and me, we have 6 or seven of these trucks under construction, so we will probably make a good showing. Rus- your truck is really a great project with a TON of potential. I tend to get ones that I can drive, and then take them all apart and spend months obsessing over each detail. I think I'm gonna learn from you and drive my 69 a while (after I get it put back together LOL)! |

Re: Rusbuilt's 68 C-10
Rus- I have a buddy in Eagleville who has LOTS of parts, and my buddies and me try to spread the wealth among fellow enthusiasts with our extra stuff. Let me know if you need anything.

I really appreciate that, there are some things I need. The main thing I need right now is a 5 lug coil spring rear end..
