Re: Wickid 54 build
When I was little my dad made me and my sister this push and shove bug that we could show at the shows with him. So we figured that we would re do it and give it to my daughter. We made the exhaust look like a stinger on a Baja bug.

Re: Wickid 54 build
Wickid, love the way your bed is coming together, seem we both wanted flow to the back end of the bed (see attached pics of my bed). Love the push buggie, that is so sweeeet..Jim

Re: Wickid 54 build
Oldman3,
Your bed looks great, the stake pockets always looked unfinished and doing it your way really finishes them off nice. What I am trying to achieve with my roll pan and stake pockets is to make the back of the truck have a bumper roll pan effect. The roll pan sticks out 1 and will flow into the stake pillars on the edge of the bed to give it a finished look. I wanted the back of the truck to have some depth but look smooth at the same time. I am hoping this achieves it. |

Re: Wickid 54 build
wickid, with the initial pieces you have in place, and the one piece you showed, I think you will accomplish what you have it mine, you are doing some great work...Jim

Re: Wickid 54 build
I want it to recognizable as a 54 but without the big nose out there. Also to be noted I am wrapping the grill around to the side of the finders just a tad. I am getting this idea from the 54 GMC grills. I was thinking about using the 55 front bumper, but probably going to scrap that idea.

Re: Wickid 54 build
Larry thanks for the complement it really means something to me. The colors are not set in stone I change my mine every 30 minutes. I want a color that is dark looking but catches your eye, dont want the truck to blend.

Didn't get a lot done but was able to make the caps for the stake pockets. A lot Of tacking and finish welding to do.

Re: Wickid 54 build
Thanks guys, hopefully one day I can actually drive this thing. It takes a lot of time and effort to build these trucks from scratch. But I wouldn't have it any other way.

Re: Wickid 54 build
I like the stake pocket detail as well. How were you able to bend the stake pocket side cap pieces without them looking angular or kinking them??? It doesn't look like there is enough meat on the edges to use the shrinker/stretcher.

Re: Wickid 54 build
I put the two 1/2" beads on the edge and used my slip roll to give it the contour I need. The slip roll doesn't distort your bead, have to give props to xpickup on this one.

Re: Wickid 54 build
After a couple of trys I got the transtuin piece made. Flowing from the stake pocket to the roll pan, was harder than expected but I did it. Still have some fine tuning on the piece but it is in place. I am going to continue the bead roll all the way down the front part of the stake. Then trim the roll pan a little for fitment and bam it is done for the driver side.
