I know it looks chaotic but there is a method to all the madness.

Re: BIG changes coming my way!!

The walls are up! so far looking good and feels bigger than I was expecting. they are supposed to set trusses on monday. we'll see, there is a chance of rain. Here is a rough drawing of what the front of the house is going to look like. The new siding came in yesterday, going to pick it up tomorrow.

Thanks Nate. We are going for the Craftsman style look. When the house is done we dont want it to look like it was added on to. We struggled with what to do to it without highly modifying it. We are trying to keep the cost down.

Re: BIG changes coming my way!!

Well the trusses weren't set monday but they did set them today. Got all of the decking on but one sheet. I don't like where the window is on the gable end of garage so I think I am going to lower it around 8 or so inches. The garage is 24x26 with 10 foot walls and the bedroom above it is 12x24 but will have closets it that space. still moving along and oh yeah baby is at 36 weeks and 2 days. less than 4 to go. My wife ordered this shirt for him, she got online from Old Navy. I didn't know she ordered it and I think its pretty cool that she supports the hobby.

Re: BIG changes coming my way!!

There has been alot done in the last few days. I have the garage completely wired and insulation in. I have most of the ceiling drywall done, just waiting to finish ceiling until I have the hallway from old house to new upstairs cut out. The outside is ready for the stone that is going below the eyebrow on front of garage and wrapping around corners. Soffit and siding should be up on garage and east side of house on wednesday.

Re: BIG changes coming my way!!

I know my truck is sitting funny in the last set of pictures but that is where they have dug out for the driveway. I am going to have them put a drain that runs the width of the garage about 18 inches in front of the doors, so they have dug down around 6 inches or so where my back tires a sitting.

Re: BIG changes coming my way!!

Here is the house as of today. I am very happy with it so far but have a long way to go. the outside of the garage is basically done. the stone for the front should come in next week and the masons should be here by end of next week as well. The concrete guys will are going to pour concrete on monday. My wife and I are going to pick out the front lights this weekend. Also added a picture of what the stone looks like that we ordered.

Re: BIG changes coming my way!!

Next on the agenda for the outside of the house is the front porch. I am going to completely remove the old one and replace with a craftsman style porch. I have a new front door which i will be moving a little to the left and we are going to put a window on each side of the door. here is a picture of the windows that we ordered. Once porch is on and door and windows are in we will reside the front and the west side of house which is last side. All of this will have to wait until more is done inside.

I did get the new sliding patio door in today. it turned our really nice, its exciting to start having nice things after living in a garage for 6 years.

its called flagstone. made by certainteed. I asked my wife today what we would describe the color of the house as when we have people looking for our house and we figured we would say blue-gray. I know that doesnt help much.

I think its more blue though

Re: BIG changes coming my way!!

Finally have the kitchen, dinning room, and laundry room ready to have sheetrock finished. I hired an employee of a neighbor that has been a sheetrock finisher for 35 years. He is going to start tomorrow. Our cabinets are supposed to be installed on Dec. 15 so we are going to go ahead and have these three rooms finished so that we can lay the tile. I don't want anything to hold up the cabinet guy so we are skipping around a little.

Oh and we have 12 days to due date.
