Ok, ive heard, read, where guys will jam on their brakes real hard.....seems to centralize the pin. Doesnt sound like a good method.
Trying to find a diagram of an exploxed veiw of a mc, to show you how it is supposed to look.basically, what happened was your pressure dropped in one of the mc chambers, allowing the pin to shift, thus bringing on your red light

Well, its not quite the bells and whistles we have today, but forty years ago, im sure it was modern technology. A red light on your dash would alert you to drive to the side of the road using your emergency brake. Sorta, gives you aheads up, before your foot goes to the floor, and you panic with no brakes
It wasnt too long ago that we had cable actuated brakes, i think hydraulics is afar cry better. Just the periles of restoring an old truck, you cant make a silk purse outta a sows ear It is, what it is

I have read on this prop valve, and seems most people put a c-clamp on it and bleed the brakes with the c-clamp on. I cant even get that pin to go in.

So between ups not delivering my packages in a timely fashion, and waiting on a phone call that never happened. I got bored and started chopping up my dash to put my stereo speaker in my dash. I am also doing this with the windshield still in. Proving interesting, but not as difficult as I thought. But then I havent started welding yet.

I would have been done with dash today if I didnt lazy around waiting on a phone call from a young lady. Oh well. That was just a little over an hours worth of work.
I'm trying to figure out line sizes/threads so I can do away with stock prop valve and go to adjustable. Then no more stupid pin. so far it looks like.... mc 7/16-24 with 3/16 mc 7/16-24 with 1/4 valve in 7/16-24 with 3/16 valve in 3/8 with 1/4 valve out 3/8 with 3/16 valve out 1/2 with 1/4 because using 2 sizes would have been to simple Last edited by Dale99; 01-01-2013 at 10:56 PM. |

need ideas on how to grind up close to the windshield. I welded from underneath, but some did come thru and its bubbling up. hum.......

Keep the grinding sparks and welding sparks off the glass because they'll causing pitting.

a dremel tool with grinding burrs should work then just a coarse flat file. and be sure to tape off the glass with a few layers of tape or weld shield sparks will pit the sh*t out of it. ask me how I know? lol!

I got a few pits when I was welding from bottom up when it blew thru. Tape doesnt help when welding, it still goes thru. I'm guessing with grinding it will though.
I dont think I have any bits for my dremel that will cut metal. I had totally forgot about it I'll give some of them a try. |

I did have a dremel stone that fit, and cut. It trashed the whole stone!! bondo'd, sanded, and primed. Realised I forgot to drill the speaker mounting brackets, DOH. Hopefully my drill will still fit in the dash to do this.
8 of my 12 body mount bolts came in today. |

So I bought a junker car last year for a photoshoot that ended up not happening. I have been storing it at a friends house this whole time and I'm tired of it being in his way and I could use the scrap value cash.
So I had been wondering if it would drive up onto it? So before I loaded it onto my trailer to take in, I gave it a try I now know my answer, and know about where my max articulation is. My friend took some video, I'm waiting to see it. As well when I left, I drove thru the ditch infront of his house. I think he filmed that as well. |

So its been a while since I have updated.
I pulled the jimmy out to fix the trans on my camaro. Got it done, then its having starting issues. While dealing with that, I agreed to fix a malibu for a lady. It has taken much longer then planned. Hopefully I have it fixed this weekend, then a day or two back on the camaro. Then I can sell my infiniti!!! While doing all this though, I did order new seat cushions from user "pickmup". I got one cheap, one nice. I will have to say the cheap will work for kids, or people under 150lbs. But if your a grown person, I would stay with the good one made by ACI. I also have an aux battery tray on the way, more door seals. First thing though will be fixing ball joints. |

So I have installed my window to top seals, look fairly good.
I have went thru all my lighting, and have it working properly except the interior floor lights, and a few lights in the cluster. Had some bad wires, bad bright switch, funky acting turn signal. Installed an original steering wheel in my camaro, and took the wooden one I had in it, and installed in the jimmy. I was surprised to find out the adapter kit was the same. My spare set of bucket seats have been stripped down to there frame, wire wheeled, and ready for an upholstery kit. Still waiting on my aux battery tray, I have a tracking code for it now. I got a 67 glove box off ebay that is the black/silver, so my dash will be symmetrical. Have tracking code on it. I picked up a 72 chevy fender to put in place of the fender I have now tell I can find the proper one. Sadly, no pictures of the process, dont even think about it when I'm doing the stuff. Plan to work on ball joints for the next week. |

Since I'm dead in the water on this project due to money and waiting on parts. I will do a picture update tonight since Ive just done text. First is the seats I discussed. I would advise using the ACI if you plan to drive it, and not just turn it for a flip project.
Then a picture of the door seals I got installed. I still had to poke my own holes in the rubber. Then also one of my steering wheel. |

This is the ball joint mess. I got in WAY over my head and broke tons of crap. Partly cause some was already broke, part cause I had no clue what I was doing. I had planned on doing both at the same time. But I am only doing one at the moment.
Intended to keep the spicer lockouts at the moment, thats gone. End of axle shaft was damaged due to improper snap ring installed, and broke loose. Didnt know there was two spindle nuts and an alignment washer. One nut was laying loose. Then I chiseled off the other nut via the ring, damaging the spindle threads. Problems finding someone to install my own supplied ball joints. After 2 days found a source. I had planned on just running some cheap brake pads and letting them clear the rust off the rotors, ha. It had already chewed up half a pad. So rotor will have to get turned. |

Working on the passenger ball joint. Going much easier!!
I went to replace the oil in the front differential. Crack it loose and its dripping water. Keep going, more water. Knock the cover off, it was nothing but 100% water in it!! Even more blows to the mess, the teeth on the gear are chipped, and the differential has had some type of damage before, guessing snapped a ring gear at some point. |

Ball joints in, new spindles on, hubs are in, diffs are filled with lube, transfer case drained, filled. That chapter of the project done! All that I want to do more here is get some GMC decals made and put on the diff covers.
