Re: The Bomb, 72 C10 Custom Deluxe

Is that tonneau cover a custom deal??? never seen one on an older pickup.

There's a guy that can make the Q-Jet, what you need it to be www.cliffshighperfrormance.com. He's a year behind on builds, but can sell you the parts and has published a book, that anyone can follow. Best way to contact him is via email initially, his ability to talk on phone is somewhat limited, because of his amount of work. It's worth the effort. You'll get better MPG, and driveability, if...

Yes, I've been buying parts from him for years and have one of his books. I have one of his carbs on an older vette, runs great. Just could not get the one on the truck to dial in, even after a "professional" rebuild.

Re: The Bomb, 72 C10 Custom Deluxe

I can't tell, is that the Quick-fuel EFI or just a straight carb setup?

Re: The Bomb, 72 C10 Custom Deluxe

How do you like it? Was it just bolt on and go or did you have to adjust it? I like my qjet most days, but some days it's a real pain.

Great carb for this application. The dyno tech went up two jet sizes on the secondaries and drop down one size after a run. So yes, pretty much a bolt and go.

Re: The Bomb, 72 C10 Custom Deluxe

When I got the freshly painted bare cab on the frame I had all the dark olive interior parts sitting on the garage floor, seat covers, door panels, dash pad, visors, carpets, tank cover, etc. Wifey said uh, no. She said I know you want stock so what colors were available? I showed her the chart and she said black or parchment with the paint scheme. She said parchment with the white top would really pop. I have to agree, she nailed it. I will say it's been a challenge keeping the seat covers & belts clean.

That truck looks super familiar! I currently have a chevy c10 project of my own.. Did you raise it at all? or just replaced everything at the same ride height? The interior of yours though looks amazing and the whole job was done very nicely.

Re: The Bomb, 72 C10 Custom Deluxe

hey Lee
i was researching headers for my 70 stepside and there was a thread you mentioned hedman headers for camaro / chevelle 68608. i went through your build thread and didnt see them mentioned. (absolutely gorgeous truck btw) did you end up using those pipes or something else? i dont want to use 'truck headers' because of the clearance since i lowered my rig 5/4.5. lots of guys mention a brand or chevelle but not specific model#s or or even year chevelle. my eyes are bleeding from trying to figure out what to use haha
thanks

Thank you sir. It's lowered about 3" in front and 4" out back.

Yes, those are the headers I used. The headers & exhaust are in between frame rails, they don't go below until after the diff. I had to clearance the motor mount stands slightly (totally tubular stands) and I used a lokar shifter linkage (ACA-1800). I cleared my PM box if you have more questions or you can email me at leehurlbutt@hotmail.com. Lee
