Re: My Quest for Hot Rod Power Tour, Take 2

ok motor mounts showed back up aand YEAH they fit.

on the tranny had to remove the heat shield from the passenger side and the original shifter cable bracket from the drivers side. both were hitting the trans crossmember.

and the other pictures show that the caddy oil pan is going to be for me.

ok may have to send this back to try and find a 90 degree fitting, having it straight out is just going to be to close.

Re: My Quest for Hot Rod Power Tour, Take 2

ok, i have 90 days to go.

havent taken to many pictures. but the power steering hoses finally showed up. brake hoses came right second time.

i have the inlet filter and fuel pump and outlet filter mounted.

transmission cooler lines started routing. used OEM lines off donor truck, helped out. had nice flexable section in it.

mounted lokar shifter, had to bend linkage to get it to clear electrical plug.

local exhaust shop bent me some elbows so i can start on the pipes.

and last night i laid out the wiring harness how i wanted it so i can wrap it back up nice and neat.

i bought the fuse box from current performance, seem like a good deal. wires are same color as my GMC harness so its just matching up wire and solder together.

sorry about pictures, will try and take some later.

Looking good. If nothing happens we are gonna long haul the power tour this year. First time ever going. We are registered and all our rooms are booked. Hope you can make it. Would be nice to get a group of trucks together in a convoy and roll.

Re: My Quest for Hot Rod Power Tour, Take 2

today i am taking the driveshaft to get it shortened.

my truck chassis had a two piece driveshaft with carrier bearing.
didnt like how the angles looked after rear airbag suspension was installed.

so called ridetech and they were not really feeling the two piece driveshaft.

so dug around in my spare parts pile and found a stock truck driveshaft and now i am going to get 2 1/4" cut out of it and get it balanced so i can keep my filling while at interstate speed

If you are still looking for AC compressor manifolds that exit at a 90*, I used one of these off of ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-A-...7c1bdf&vxp=mtr

It worked very well for me and they offer them for a variety of comressors.

i did have to end up getting another a/c block, i ordered one from old air products. it was same price as one you saw on ebay, but it is fixed direction.

Re: My Quest for Hot Rod Power Tour, Take 2

ok so had to make me some wood spacers to work on the truck.

make mental note, when you lower a truck, you cant work on it. so i raised it.

makes it much easier to get to stuff.

well brakes are bled, steering shaft had to be adjusted to fit around exh manifold.

wiring harness is on motor and cut hole in cab floor to bring it in and mount ecm under seat.

stay tuned, weather is forcasting a foot of snow for us, so i will get more garage time. my wife don't allow me to work on snow days anymore.

Re: My Quest for Hot Rod Power Tour, Take 2

also called my tuner and gave him the heads up i would be ready soon.

he said he wants to show up when i can crank it and ready to go. sounded like a plan to me.

i downloaded the HP tuner demo. i cant believe how easy it is to disable VATS, guess i was thinking it would be something hard. but its just a click of the mouse and its gone.

and new radiator should be delivered by ups today.

Re: My Quest for Hot Rod Power Tour, Take 2

ok so i got transmission cooler mounted, and lines in.
got all air lines ran back to where airpod is going to mount in bed.
ran cables for ride height level sensors, still have to mount front ones
moved steering column to clear exhaust manifold.
painted manifolds with high temp paint so they wouldnt rust, they were starting to rust just from my hand prints on them.

got 75 days until i need to leave. damn the torpedo's, full steam ahead.
