Re: 66 pro-touring build
just found your build thread. looking back over old frame pics it looks like c4 stuff. awesome build. I did a Camaro a couple years back with a c4 front with coil overs. STRONGLY suggest gusseting from inner frame behind upper control arms to cross member. with sticky tire welds will crack at mounts

Re: 66 pro-touring build
the suede is achieved by just using flat clear coat instead of gloss - my plan was to go shiny, but after spraying the base coat I just really liked that look.
The gauges are Dakota Digital VHX series universal - they make a kit for the original style dash, but I wanted something a little more racy looking. They also make a module that will plug into the obd2 port and supply the gauges all the information the the computer gets. thanks for the heads up on the control arm mounting.

Re: 66 pro-touring build
nothing new - finished the boom mat install, mounted the fuse box, mounted the trans dipstick, and working on a few small things. Hopefully tomorrow after church I'll get some time and get the ac vents in and the hoses routed. Just a couple of pics of where it is at today.

Re: 66 pro-touring build
So, making slow progress on the wiring - it is so hard to keep things looking nice and clean in the engine compartment. Hopefully, if not out of town to much for work, I can finally hear the motor run in the next week or so!!

Re: 66 pro-touring build
actually for a change I had most of Sat to work on it. Got all of the motor and trans wiring done, started on the air conditioning wiring, tied up a bunch of little things that needed to be done. Thinking that if all goes well I may be able to try and crank it next week end - that should get me fired back up. All this wiring is tedious and aggravating!!

Re: 66 pro-touring build
So, no new pictures as all I have been doing is a bunch of little things. This project has drug out for so long I was starting to lose motivation, so I decided to get the engine running to get me back on track. It started first turn of the key and sounds great - it just has a generic tune in it for now, but seems to really like it considering tha cam and intake swap. Hopefully, i've have some improvements that need pictures soon.

Sometimes we need a break but don't quit, it is such a nice build, keep puttering away, we need motivation too.

Re: 66 pro-touring build
Been workin on it when I have time. Motor cranked right off and runs great, so all good there - just need to get a tune for it as it currently just has the stock tune. Started building the front inner fenders as with the firwall moved and the porter built hinges - I figured it would be easier just to start from scratch. Also, threw all the panels back on just to get a look to make sure it is still looking the same as it does in my head - it does. So, now just need to finish wiring, body work and paint, and some interior work.

Re: 66 pro-touring build
it was eastwood clear and i think it was called satin, I'll have to check. I'm running a 69 camaro twin pass radiator, not a bolt on - but a fairly easy fit.
Nova is in several different pieces and places - its next on the list for the pro-touring makeover.

Re: 66 pro-touring build
just thought I'd drop an update to let everyone know I didn't die!!
Time has become non-existent, so progress has been super slow. After building my own front inner fenders, I was never completely happy so I ended up just buying some from slosh tubz. Ordered new replacement doors and they both fit as well as everyone has said - terrible, so lots of work to do there.
