Re: Project Coca-Rustola: '67 C20 Longstepper

I saw you want to do a disk brake swap, try to find a 73-87. The cross member and everything nearly bolts right in. Only like 2 of the holes are off slightly and one needs to be drilled. And you wont have to change your motor mounts. Those trucks can be found sitting in peoples yards all over around here. I think theres 2 by my house sitting out on one of the farms. You could probably talk them out of the whole truck for 100 or maybe free, once they wont pass smog or the engine/trans goes out, people just park em

Look what showed up in my garage today. Thanks wreckedchevy and Eric in Montana for hooking me up with a spare tire carrier. Now to clean it up, paint it, and get it on the truck.

Re: Project Coca-Rustola: '67 C20 Longstepper

Not much progress of late. Money has been tight and not much time to spare. But, today I did throw a sheet of 3/4 plywood into the bed just so that I actually put stuff in the bed without it falling underneath the truck. I also temporarily seeled up the rust holes in the roof, firewall, and cab corner to keep water and critters out this winter.

Re: Project Coca-Rustola: '67 C20 Longstepper

Took the ol' boy out for a little drive just to make sure the brakes are working good. Seems to stop well. Glad it has power brakes. I think I'm having carb/float problems, it keeps flooding. But that's ok, the engine is going to get swapped anyway.

I can't drive it on the road yet, still registered non-op. But the property I have it stored at has a long driveway. I'd probably risk it if the block wasn't full of holes. Hate to get stranded on the side of the road with a non-op vehicle waiting for the CHP to roll up.

1967 C20 Longstepper: Ol' Rusty

Here's a good view of the crack in the block. Just below the head on the drivers side. This little 283 did it's best, but it time to go.

That's not a crack, that's a break. It pushed out quite a ways . Like Swamp says there may be some people interested in the internals and heads .

Re: Project Coca-Rustola: '67 C20 Longstepper

Have fun with the motor swap (I did)! Maybe I can stop and check it out next time I go through Sacramento.

IMO if you want to make it more retro, you should paint the block orange, even the timing cover (unless you add other chrome to the engine). It will look more stock with the retro Coca-Cola theme. Even with the Edelbrock top, mine looks very stock just orange and black. I also used my original valve covers for the look.

My thoughts exactly. I like a clean original look. I'm not a chrome kind of guy, unless it's on the outside of a Buick. Under the hood, just orange and black. PM me next time your going through Sac, I live on the north side, just off of I-5, near Arco Arena. Truck is close by in West Sac.

If I had time tomorrow, I'd swing by Chico and say hi. I'm heading to Redding for a meeting in the afternoon.

These grill hoops are tedious. Grill driving me a little nuts too. More progress coming.
