Re: Project two tone.

Once switched from the single or 2 bbl carb to the 4bbl, did you always run a 600cfm or did you start with the 390?

Yeah, before I got the 4 barrel I was running a 350 holley two barrel. Either I blew both the power valves or something else was srewed, cause sometimes it would work great and other times not.

WOW! WOW! I must be a good painter! HAHAHAHA!!! No they are oem off my 64 donor truck, funny though one of them has some rot out in the usual spot. Can't see it in the picture I suppose.

I started with a 350 cfm holley 2 barrel, then I went to the 600 cause I got the 4 barrel intake and headers.

A great hei is the Davis Unified ignition. You can purchase them at Precision Automotive Specialists. They run $300 I believe but deliver 50,000 volts!

I would find a set of nos or look for a same year donor truck with fenders that are in good shape. Reason is cause the re-pop fenders are made to fit the 60-66 chevy trucks. When I installed my oem fender from my 64 onto my 66 some of the holes were waaaay outta line. I would find fenders off a same year parts truck.

Re: Project two tone.

So I put my new carb on today. Fire the truck up. RPM flies up to 2,500 rpm at fire up. Adjust the throttle and lower the idle and set it at 850. Has snappy acceleration and is slow back down to idle. Check all the vacuum lines and they are fine. SO I am thinking hmmm, if everything is sealed and lines are tight then why would it accelerate rapidly but slowly come down to an idle??? Well, it turns out this is the same issue I had with my first Edelbrock 600 before I got the replacement. And I believe through driving the carb started to learn the motor cause the slow de-acceleration back to idle was getting better. Not sure but it runs fine and pulls a hill without issue. Choked it while running and the engine died like it is supposed to when everything is sealed. I don't know...we'll see what happens down the road!

Re: Project two tone.

Today I pull my non-cutout fender off and installed my longbed cutout fender to find that the tire I am using is to big to fit in the space. Reason is because the cut out is lower on a long bed fender then on a shortbed one. So I am on the hunt for a shortbed cutout fender. The longbed one will be posted on Medford Craigslist and is on Classic Parts Talk if anyone is interested.

Re: Project two tone.

Very nice you got the brackets too. Hes a diagram to help out. I used a jaguar firewall grommet on the hole in the fender where the support rod passes through. Found it on ebay for like $3
