Not only that but in my opinion if it weren't for AMF and Ronald Reagan there may not be Harley Davidson today.
I remember AMF Harleys took a lot of flak.

Wink Re: Motorcycle to go with C10

I fixed up my green 67C10 to look like a black 67C10 and my 1973 XR75 Honda look's good in the bed of it , but I think it look's better in my living room , yep and if anybody wonder's why I have a dirtbike in my living room ? it's because their is nobody here to tell me I can't LOL

THE BIKE : 1973 XR75 KO purchased new at atlas Honda in Bristol TN has their signature (1) on the front plate and their sticker on the rear fender bike was purchased new by the owner of the local NAPA here in my town for his son they have a paved driveway the bike was ridin on their driveway a few hours ? +-8 hour's could not be any more because of the condition of the bike it was parked and the kid got a new 1974 cr125 the little XR sat parked in a building from 1974 till 2010 I discovered the bike in 1985 but it took me till 2010 to buy it for $600 dollar's the point's have never been set it has minor scratche's and sign's of age but is in CHERRY shape tire's suffered the most wear because of the paved driveway , I am the 2nd owner of the bike ,

Post Re: Motorcycle to go with C10

Terrific thread ! .

I love Motos too , miss my '37 EL KnuckleHead and '65 FL PanHead Harley's , just two weeks ago I sold off all my old BMW /5's , took three truckloads to take 'em all away .

I still have lotsa Honda 90 C.C. tiddlers , I recently resurrected and rebuilt a '68 CL90 like the ones shown here , they're good riders although I typically prefer the AutoClutch CT models .

Maybe a URAL Solo ? I have three of them and am hoping to get back to riding this year .

As mentioned , Motos and trucks match up well , I only ever needed to carry my Honda Tiddlers in the rig though and then only when purchasing or transporting far from home .

Re: Motorcycle to go with C10

Hmm, seems to me that the bike should be something that doesn't share the same potential destination list as the truck, and should probably be from the same era, no? I dunno just my thoughts on the subject.

That Harley-Aermacchi MX250 a few pages back would look great in an orange shortbed as would a track ready XR750, and I'm surprised no one has posted up any Pentons or British scramblers. I also love that old XR75, I'm partial, I suppose though as that was my first bike when I was like 13, that bike got me in so much trouble but was so much fun.

yeah i see your point skorpio, but to each his own. my opinion, nothin like showing up at the local dragstrip in style in your badass old truck and pulling your sportbike off and smashing everyones ass, then load up and leave in style again.. prob not gonna get many looks with a 60's model yamaha or honda in the bed, and prob just stereotypical snickers with an era matched harley in the bed(ie:prob haulin it in that truck cuz it prob dont run, or, better than leaking oil on the garage floor or something smartass like that), at least the sportbike can walk the walk!!! no offense meant!! just MHO!!

Well, I wasn't really thinking track bike, a track bike has a legitimate reason to be hauled and isn't "supposed" to be able to get to pretty much the same places on it's own. However, I think if you show up at the local dragstrip with a late '60s early '70s bike with a big M&H on the back and a few Kaw triples in the frame, I'm bettin' you'll be drawing a bigger crowd than a tricked out 'busa. Same is true of a vintage tracker or a Cafe at their respective venues. These trucks are from a time when bikes in the back was pretty common. Hell, half the bikes racing flatrack now are from this era and vintage bike racing be it dirt or tarmac is a big deal right now.

I guess my point was really that the bike riding in the back should have a reason for being there other than being to tedius to ride or as a way to get it somewhere, all shiney, so you can hide the truck and pretend you rode it there.

Here are a couple 1970 pictures of the bike that used to "go with" our 69 CST/20. Honda CL175.

point taken my friend, but for the record, i would never hide my truck and pretend i rode my bike there!! I was riding my bike to the track everytime i raced it this year. and BUSAS always draw a big crowd! as do these era trucks, no matter where you go!!

I wasn't suggesting *you* hide your truck, I was more eluding to those that show up at Sturgis with bikes with far away plates and less miles on the odometer than the shortest distance between the state of the plate and South Dakota and all dressed up like they're a hard core biker. Hey I am also pretty impressed by anyone that'll take a 200 mph bike with a 200 hp on the track, I think you've got to be a little nuts, but that doesn't mean I'm not impressed. But you have to admit, I'm sure this would draw a crowd:

Thought I'm not sure it would even fit in a Longhorn.
