Just a side note, are we required to run a "Filter" with the factory tachs while using an "HEI" distributer? just wanted to be sure before I "FRY" my tachometer!!!

You will fry your take without a filter. The filter was introduced on GM cars with tachometers in the late 70's to improve tachometer performance by filtering out ignition system "noise". I have no evidence to prove or deny the claim but people that use filters say they think there tachometer is more responsive. Hope this helps. Tom
