Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
It is concave on one end and splays the pivot rivets for the vent windows. Those two rivets are for the pivot point. Put the rivet in, place it upside down on a hard surface and them hammer the other end with the tool.

Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
FINALLY go the front of the dentless bed painted and put on. The bed was outside and I had to wait for a nice day to get it done.

Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
I reluctantly ordered a dash pad from ebay..
http://www.ebay.com/itm/270984456512...84.m1497.l2649 I got the pad in three days. So far pretty happy with it. I have seen a lot of recommendations for Dashesdirect.com. Their urethane pads are $380, so I was happy to find this in the box!...It looks pretty thick and feels more substantial than another I have recently seen. I will post some pictures when I unwrap it this weekend. I might be able to get it installed. [IMG][/IMG]

Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
I like your build, Scott. Can't wait to see the finished product...do you mind if I ask where you go the vent window pivot rivets in the correct size?
Thanks. Tony |

Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
I got them as a set on Ebay...If I was going to do it again, I would leave these rivets on and take the ones off that attach to the inside track. Then you could just use plain rivets with a rivet gun to reattach.

Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
I think that would be the easiest. I would also recommend warming up the rubber seals when replacing.

Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
Polished all the stainless steel, painted the grill and put it back together.
[IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] All of the plastic clips were broken for the side stainless, and I have not been able to find any new ones. I had to use some small bolts and nuts for the ones completely broken. I used some bent bobby pins to hold the ones that just had the clips broken. [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG]

Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
I had to fix the insert before I could install the dash pad. I got a small threaded rod from Fastenal, and some nuts. Drilled holes where the plastic thread was and glued the threaded rod into the hole with two part epoxy. It worked great. The insert is in good shape other than the back fasteners being broke.

Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
Thanks, I am hoping to get new paint on the doors, and then I can put the cab completely back together and start driving it a little more.

Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
Got the dash back together and installed. It's not perfect, because the fit is a little off, but I think it looks much better than a cap.
[IMG][/IMG] I ordered some new pedals today, and I need to get new carpet. That and the Taz floor mats need to go...lol

Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
While I was working on the interior I decided to go ahead and tackle the headliner. The fabric was sagging in a bunch of places, and it was so faded it looked blue.
[IMG][/IMG] Used some fabric paint to freshen up the color. The fabric was in otherwise good shape. I have not used this type of paint before, but I am happy with the results. [IMG][/IMG] I was concerned for a while because it looked like it had streaks on the fabric, but once it dried it was fine. [IMG][/IMG]

Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
I used some 3M upholstery adhesive and reattached the fabric to the headliner. I am getting close to completing the interior.

Re: 87 SWB ..Pearl..
I puled the truck out today to do some wet sanding and I found a little bit of trans fluid on the floor. I can't stand to have a leaking vehicle so after an investigation I found that the speedo gear was the culprit. This turned into a project and I ended up replacing the trans mount, and the filter.
It was dirty, must have been leaking for a while. Cleaned every thing up [IMG][/IMG] The inner and outer seal are almost impossible to find. I had to go to a transmission shop and beg for some. [IMG][/IMG]
