Re: My 1974 K5
Is that a flat / satin orangey paint there? Doesn't seem seem to be too reflective. It actually looks pretty similar to the original crimson red (which is orange) that i'm redoing mine in. Looks great. Oh and also, to run a different tailgate it's a PITA, it;s not something you want to do twice a year for summer / then winter. The truck gate has swivels on the body and different latches. Blazer gate has massive hinges and springs that attach under the bed and you'd need to reattach the old latches on the bed posts.

Re: My 1974 K5
Its a flat with pearl , very different in the sun . I will not change tailgates much , this will be a summer only truck . BUT the painter said I have to paint BOTH tailgates at the same time , if I want them to match . The stock gate is so bulky and heavy . I may never put the stock gate on again , but I need to paint it NOW .

Looks good man. I think you'll be happy painting both 'gates, you'll be able to change it up as your mood fits on down the road.

Re: My 1974 K5
Did you have to add rear axle shims with the 4" leaf spring kit? If so, what degree were they? Thanks

Re: My 1974 K5
Fyi on blazer tailgates if you wheel hard even in snow the tub will flex enough for tailgate to pop loose and if you don't catch it it will bust the window ask me how I know The pickup tailgates have catches to prevent the latch from popping loose. I have broken window while wheeling in the snow and in the summer I will drop tailgate if I flex truck at all. I finally got fed up and put pickup tailgate on and am making a rear hatch the has a lexan window and gas struts to hold it up
