Yeah, not sure if I am ready for another one of those, but it was the part that gave me the most satisfaction.

If you were to guess, how much do you think your roll cage weighs? Just the main cab section. Do you have a weight for the entire truck? I'm just curious how much all the extra parts add up. I think my 71 K5 with 35's, was about 4300 lbs. with the hard top on. ( from what I can remember )

I just went over the scales the other day. 5500# with me, 3/4 tank of fuel and no top. 2850# front axle and 2650# rear, not bad.

I think the main cage is 450# or so. I figured it out once with lineal feet of tubing I used and I was around that mark.

WOW DO I H8 YOU. No but really thats BEAUTIFUL. My truck was orange og and Im gonna go back to it. It was my dads truck he bought in 1975 right after totaling his prized 1966 4 spd ss Chevelle one cold rainy morning on the way to work. If it was me Id NEVER use Painless they are just the opposite and have no clue. Try AAM they do have a clue and actually build wiring that is like factory not a bunch of butt connectors. I removed the dmax from this truck as it was ripping it in half. It did fit like a glove and ran many trips to So cal from Utah as well pulled 12k of crap from socal w ac on at 95 mph the entire way. One day I will redo my dads blazer in orange w a 6.0 and near stock height. Who knows money is so hard to get a hold of It may never happen. Congrats on your UBERBLAZER

I'm trying to decide between DIY4x b-52 & rear shackle flip kit, or 8" lift springs, .....or some variation. I'll be using Alcan or Deaver springs.

I would run the B52 and shackle flip. You get a better option to move the front axle forward, which helps the shackle angle. I ran a 4" lift spring front and rear, but really could have used a 6" rear and 5" front to level it.

Plan on running zero rate blocks to get your axle centered, especially the rear. I have mine moved 1.25" back. The Blazer rides very nice, but it's not a corner carver!

I guess I didn't read all the negatives with painless, and so I didn't have any problems, but I enjoyed doing the wiring. I plan on trying AAW for my son's 71 Chevelle build we are starting, so I will have a comparison.

Did you need to do a body lift with the Duramax? I didn't see how it would fit with the intercooler and still not cut the firewall. You need a build thread so I can dream about it! And Thanks!

Thanks! Borrow away, the main reason I posted this thread was for someone to borrow/use ideas I incorporated as I have done with other builds on here.

I like the combo. I got tired of black as an accent color, so grey it is. I probably would have gone a shade darker for the roll cage, but I like it as is.

So you ran the 4" lift springs, rear shackle flip, and zero rate giving you about 9" of lift in the rear? Did you just used a degree shim on the front? I'm guessing with the B-52 and 4" lift springs you've got about 8" of lift on the front?

I'm going to run H2 wheels......since they are only 8.5" wide........I think I'm going to stick with 37" tires. I'll buy either the BFG Mud-Terrain KM2's in 37x12.50r17's or Toyo Open Country MT in 37x13.50r17's.

If I run the B-52, and rear shackle flip like you suggested....what would you recommend on springs to level the truck and clear 37's?

Yeah, that's about it. Your springs will settle some. Mine did a lot. I ended up adding a zero rate to the front to level it out. I will probably look at Deaver or Alcan in the future, or probably link it if I get bored.

This should leave enough room for mild wheeling, you won't stuff the tire at full compression and not rub on the rear of the front fenders, but it works okay for trail riding and such.

Great work. You sir are a master fabricator. Love all the custom work. I want your cage. Tons of work but is just so sweet. I'm just happy to finally have found a rollbar that fits in mine. No one around me would do the work to make one for me. Too much liability.

Did you make your NP241c parking brake set up. That's by next issue to surmount.
My case has the shorty short SYE kit from JB Conversions. I'll assume the parking brake disc...mounts etc were hand made? Did you just use the front section of the oem park brake cable to operate it?

Well, honestly I have not finalized the parking brake yet. Disc and mount were made, and it is supposed to use a Grand Am caliper. I just can't decide on a activating handle location since the original spot is filled by the down tube on the cage. It is on my to-do list as soon as my son's Chevelle is rolled out of the shop. I'll update as I continue...
