Re: How much would you spend
So guys I rebuilt the carb, it wasn't to bad it took me a little over 2 hrs, had a little difficulty rembering where the needle went on the float, so my buddy came over to help we set the float level to 11/32 I also let it sit in parts cleaner for 24 hrs and let me tell you that's some good stuff use 3 can carb cleaner once we had it reassembled I went to my buddy's house and bolted it on and hook up the jumper cables and half a crank fired right up,let it warm up alittle, pump the brakes alittle and drove it around my buddy's yard and clean all the **** out of the bed the wood is good and little moist from all the **** that was on it and a little but rotted wood but nothing bad 1st gear is useless lol my buddy said it is a sm245 I beleave 3 speed with a granny gear

Re: How much would you spend
Nice longhorn, I just bought a C2500 GMC longhorn myself. I put my C1500 cab on it and am working on getting a nice truck put together. FWIW, mine had WAY more rust for the same price...

Re: How much would you spend
IIRC, the bolt pattern is different and offset is way wrong. might be able to get adapters though.

Re: How much would you spend
Wow, you got a steal of a deal on the truck. The best thing about getting a good deal is taking it away.
If it was me, I would not do all that work while the truck was at your friends place and I would not be looking to add new wheels while still making payment them with the truck being there, try to speed up your payments instead and get all payments signed, it may be the best way to keep a good friend in the long run. Just remember his dad said it's worth $3500 and with all that work that you are doing now it's worth $5000 to them. Btw, I think you found a diamond in the rough, great find, I hope you use it and have fun. |

You can die just removing those wheels if they are still inflated. If it were me, and I were ready to change the wheels, I'd start by letting the air out of them even before I removed them. I would not even lay my arm across the rim to do that or stand in front of them, I'd ice pick the tires. Stored energy, when released, is easy to underestimate. Have your friend hold his fist 1" from you arm and hit you as hard as he can. Then, have him do the same thing only have another friend hold his arm while he's trying to hit you then let it go. You will get the point. "Similar incidents have occurred in the past, where split rims blew apart during inflation or as the inflated tyre was being removed from the vehicle. The escaping air pressure is enough to hurl the tyre and rim with great force into the air". http://www.workcover.nsw.gov.au/form...blies_5899.pdf |
