Re: 1965 frame off progress
Yes I did. I noticed that discrepancy when I ordered. I believe that this piece is fairly new and may have replaced that other piece.

Re: 1965 frame off progress
Looking damn good to me...thats a lot of screwing around, but it will be worth it when you finish. I'm also amazed at how many pieces the factory folded in on top of each other in some of those areas.

Re: 1965 frame off progress
Thanks. It is alot of work especially when you don't know what you are doing. That A pillar area on this truck was eaten up with rust, but there are alot of pieces folded in that area. It is amazing how many tools that you need to do metal work.

More progress over the past couple of weeks as I have started working on the front suspension. Most parts came from POL.

Re: 1965 frame off progress
More progress. I also started a blog if anyone is interested. It's in my signature. I ordered the power steering conversion kit from CPP. I ordered the gearbox and rag joint from Advance Autoparts. This was alot easier than I expected. Although, CPP did put one incorrect bolt into the kit (fine thread instead of coarse).

Re: 1965 frame off progress
I got the rear disc brakes from CPP. I definitely had great customer service from CPPJEFF. I recommend him highly. I am not sure what I am going to go about mounting the e-brake cables on the trailing arms though. I thought about using the old clips, which should work fine, but it would be nice if someone sold the little bracket to bolt on there. Then you could slide the cable into the bracket hole and clip it. Here is a picture of what I mean:

Re: 1965 frame off progress
Scott,
Really nice looking job! I used almost the same CPP stuff for brakes and PS. I put in an Eaton Posi as well. Here is what I did for the e-brake cable brackets, just make some from aluminum angle, use the original cable clamp holes in the trailing arms. TR

Thanks. It can get overwhelming at times. That is a great idea. I think I am going to try to do that myself.

Re: 1965 frame off progress
Passenger side came out a little better than the drivers side. But again, thanks for the idea. I tend to overthink things sometimes and didn't even consider making my own.

Re: 1965 frame off progress
Scott,
I've been looking at your build and see you're using the same rear disc brake setup as I am. Did you have any problems getting the calipers to line up properly with the rotors? The c-brackets and spacers mount to the inboard side of the axle flange and this surface is very rough and untrue. Did you cut cut and shim as required on the spacer or did you somehow true the axle flange? My brackets were also not drilled and tapped very well and I'm waiting for replacements. They must have been hand drilled/tapped because the holes are not perpendicular to the face at all. One hole is crooked about 7degrees. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Dean |

Re: 1965 frame off progress
OK,Looks awesome great work. But I have a question,in one post I see 6 lugs on rear disc setup,in a later post I notice you sporting 5 lugs all the way around. Is that the latest set up? Looks good either way.Keep it up.

Re: 1965 frame off progress
Sorry guys. These questions are a year and half old. I have no clue how I didn't see them back then...... No issues on the brakes, only had to remove the shims on the pads. Axles are 5 lug axles, originals were 6 lugs. No progress at all since last pictures. I have been working very diligently on my 70 Chevelle and am going to try to finish it before jumping back on the truck. Have decided to go ahead and probably farm out the metal work when I do start back on the truck.

Re: 1965 frame off progress
It's a zz502 with a 4l80e combo. This is a 7 year resto so far. I am hoping to be finished by next year sometime.
