Re: Show your current set up and how you got there or where its goin.

This looks like fun. Most of my work has been in changing out the engine. I need to tighten up the interior (minor stuff), some very minor body work, and replace the horrible wheels and I will call it "done." Well these things are never really done, are they?

Here are a couple of pics of the engine before and after, and one of the outside showing the ugly wheels. I'm looking for replacements.

p.s. This truck would be nowhere near where it is now; in fact it probably would not even be running, if it weren't for all the awesome technical advice from those wiser than me here at the site. Thanx!

Re: Show your current set up and how you got there or where its goin.

Where it was: I bought this truck about one year ago as a mostly original '68 longbed. The only visual changes from stock that the previous owner did were the 15x8 steel wheels and a 2" drop.

Where it is: I have gone through and fixed all the mechanical issues and have done quite a bit of preventative maintenance. All the boring details are in my build thread. The biggest visual differences are the shortbed conversion, 22x9 steel wheels, and an additional 2" drop.

Where it's going: Visually, I want to go 2-3" lower and will accomplish this with spindles and blocks. Mechanically, it will get the disk brakes up front when I do the spindles and I will eventually replace the original 307 with a mild 350.

Re: Show your current set up and how you got there or where its goin.

Sorry no pics but I am just getting my 1972 SWB stepside back to original. Very few mods planned. Not into changing stance or big wheels. I might even keep the whitewalls. Do plan a grill guard and rear step bumper though.

Re: Show your current set up and how you got there or where its goin.

Great thread. Here is mine when I started as a long bed in January. Second pic is current day, and last is one I have as my screensaver. I hope to mimic this truck except for a darker blue.
