Re: Questions about 1965 C20 front end drum to disc
I believe this is the right one, checked several places, . I got the MOOG CK620036 and MOOG CK620037. The driver side looks like this, the other side is the castle nut that you normally see.
It came with a washer, but I didn't use it. The instruction says to use it on the steering linkage, and I know it didn't have a washer when taking it apart. If I can put washer in without causing any problem, that's what I will do. I was worried I missed something again. |

Re: Questions about 1965 C20 front end drum to disc
My concern with seeing the cotter pin hole so high would be that the stud of the ball joint is actually too small for the hole in the spindle. The taper should be the same, so there really shouldn't be an issue. If it were mine, I would add a washer or two to get the castle nut high enough so that the cotter pin is well into the groove of the nut.

Re: Questions about 1965 C20 front end drum to disc
Need confirm something. I was installing the bearing on the wheel hub, the inner side has this grease seal, which I gently tapped into place. However, it seems to sit slightly above the rim about 1/8", not flush.
I don't remember how it was when I took off the old one, I checked everything and it seems to be seated correctly. But before I put it back on the spindle, just want to have others take a look and see if this is how it should look. Thanks. Edit: I found a picture of the old hub when I was taking it off, it shows the seal exactly how it was, so this is confirmed. I should remember to take more pictures. Nelson did you have to drill new holes to mount the later-model idler arm? I went through the same swap (I think) and didn't relocate the idler at all, but now wondering if I should have?? Thought I read something on page 3 about having to do that.

Not yet. Once I have the whole spindle/wheel hub put back together, I will work on the steering linkage.
I plan on drilling these holes as CapFab noted. Why not change the whole thing to the same year, instead of keeping some part of it from 64 and some from 84. |

Re: Questions about 1965 C20 front end drum to disc
I'm installing the sway bar that came with the 84 donor car, need some suggestions on how to position the bar. I took the old frame bracket from the donor, and kind lay out the sway bar with the new Energy Suspension bushing. How far should the end of the sway bar stick out the bushing on the LCA, see picture below.
Or should I position the frame bracket so it's as level as possible where the bushing attaches to? I don't know if there is any spec for this, but maybe someone has some suggestions. |
