Re: 69 crew duramax build
That's pretty wild how the crew cab and Longhorn bed fall right on to the crew cab long bed newer chassis.

Re: 69 crew duramax build
Man,it's coming together quickly. How does the cab fit over the tranny as of right now? I haven't started test fitting my dmax/ally under mine yet. My frame is really similar in dimensions as your newer frame and was just curious as what it fits like. Trevor

Re: 69 crew duramax build
Great looking project! im starting to build a 72 crew cab dmax. Any advice on lowering the burb roof skin? I was originally gonna leave the tall roof but i almost think itd be easier to lower it.. I was just gonna cut a couple inches out of the roof skin and drop it down but then it wont be wide enough...

Re: 69 crew duramax build
You will have to slit the corners and "flatten" it out to fit.

That is one badass looking rig! Will you be using the 06 interior or keeping the 69 interior.

Re: 69 crew duramax build
i think it would look best if you could somehow drop the bed lower instead of raising the cab

Re: 69 crew duramax build
I have the wood floor supports resting on frame. Can't go lower without notching frame or raising bed floor. Really don't want to do either.

This is awesome. Do you mind sharing some more pictures of the 4th door work? How did you all go about building the B-pillar?

Re: 69 crew duramax build
Body mounts installed! Frame does show a little more than factory 06. But not too horrible. Needs steps anyway. I think it will clear 35's with no lift. Think I might try to modify a set of chrome steps and attach them to power folding board motors. That way they block frame but still fold down for easy entry.

Re: 69 crew duramax build
Fender mocked up. Hood will not shut, Reservoir on master cylinder is too tall. But this is location it needs to be mounted to firewall. So now I'm on the hunt for shorter reservoir. Or a remote reservoir. Any ideas? |

Re: 69 crew duramax build
Pedals are also mounted. This is why master cylinder needs to stay put. We like pedal location |

Re: 69 crew duramax build
The truck is looking great. Keep the pics coming.
For a shorter reservoir, some Astro vans used individual pieces that look considerably shorter. ... and others used a single reservoir similar to like a '96ish K2500 truck. Those MC's look like an older design. This C5 MC looks similar. You might want to keep an eye on the fluid level... those Dmax trucks have some massive brakes that take a lot more fluid volume than a C5 does.

Re: 69 crew duramax build
Do you have any more pictures of how you welded the horizontal roof posts together above the rear doors? I was just wondering since the burb is different than the truck...

Re: 69 crew duramax build
Do you still have the rear section of the burb? I want to add a light on the inside of the truck and a picture down into the section where the hatch hinge bolts in would be extremely helpful so I know what is going on in that area. I want to put in an interior light, but I am not sure how to get a wire in the for power, or if it is possible
