Re: 1988 Gmc crew cab build

What gears are you going to put in it? I had the same problem with my R30 so I put 3.55s in it.

Re: 1988 Gmc crew cab build

Would you mind explaining what it took to move the alternator and AC compressor?

I hope to start the same swap in the near future, and your build has been awesome to look at and go by. Would you happen to have any pics of the radiator and intercooler?

Thanks!

Re: 1988 Gmc crew cab build

I went to cummins and picked up the main part , thats the water inlet is what they call it part number #3930888 it will be close to $200 for the bracket, then I had a lower water neck made, when your at cummins you will also need to get the orings 2 of them to put the bracket on , that will move the ac above the water inlet , as for the alternator I fab up the brackets out of 5/16 steel plate,
I found that the alternator needs to line up with the front of the motor , there are 2 bolt holes behind the water out let that the braket is mounted to , then made a nothere braket to suport the bottom of alternator. You will have to get a ac pump off a 95 f800 with a diesel in it for the pully to line up.
Here are some pic's of the braket youwill need , with the part for the tensoner, you will also need the fan hub from a 91.5 to 93 dodge truck to get the clearance to run a cluch fan , there is a pic of the water neck I had made too, that ran $100 machined out of 1 pice,

Looks awesome! Nice work. The interior really turned out clean. What's the specs on your boat?
