Re: FITECH EFI 600 Basic and Command center intall with pics, factory tank
After all the rave reviews I took the plunge and replaced my FAST EZ EFI with the FITECH unit. The FAST unit just never quite ran the way I thought it should. The FITECH system fired up on the first turn and idles great right out the box (something the FAST unit never did for me, always idled too high). There is tons of salt on the road here in MN so I'm excited to give it a full test when it gets warmer. Here is a quick pic I took before I clean up the wiring.

That's very nice to know. I was very close to getting the edelbrock E-Street, but the price of the competition is easily $1000. more.

Re: FITECH EFI 600 Basic and Command center intall with pics, factory tank
Hello everyone, I'm new here, and have been following all of the FITech installs I can, it sure seems pretty awesome. We are awaiting our Fitech #30012 Go EFI 8 1200 Power Adder Plus system from Jegs for our 1986 Trans Am with a 383/AFR 195 heads and a "Blow Thru" D1SC Procharger 12 lb boost. Should make around 650 hp at the flywheel.
I read where some are having trouble assembling the pushlock hose ends, (they are very tuff, I've installed them on past projects), I wanted to share a link to a tool that we bought that makes installing them a breeze, no matter what size. No more boiling/freezing ect.... it's pricey, so it may not be worth it to some ,but we have a few projects in our family that we use pushlock on, so its worth it to us. It works flawless... It's made by Koul Tools, it's a hose press designed especially for the puchloc hose and fittings.... here is the link... Thanks for having me here, and ENJOY! https://youtu.be/rjgAfnLKO9g Last edited by Transam461; 01-22-2016 at 10:48 PM. |

Diceman , bonus points for ingenuity.
Great tool. I like the throw adjustment. That screw drive Koul is certainly slick, and if you've got $250 burning a hole in your pocket... worth it. Probably out of most budgets for a single install.

Still happy?

Re: FITECH EFI 600 Basic and Command center intall with pics, factory tank
I have only been on a few short rides but it seems like it runs better and better every time. Starts better every time. I had a few issues with off throttle to idle speed and they helped me to the correct the issue within minutes. I finally filled the truck up the other day and I know the fuel mileage is better I just don't have real numbers yet. The afr blows my mind at how well it meets set point. I should have some gas milage numbers at the end of this weekend. Keep in mind I am getting around 15mpg on the highway because of the r10 overdrive. I honestly couldn't be happier. I will never buy another carb

Re: FITECH EFI 600 Basic and Command center intall with pics, factory tank
If that's the tank because the main reason is my seat does not fold up and I didn't feel like taking it out. Also I wanted it above that area because if I fill the truck up it actually goes above that spot and would fill the line with fuel

Re: FITECH EFI 600 Basic and Command center intall with pics, factory tank
The online instructions show a filter between the Command Center and the Fitech unit.
Do they include that filter or do I need to buy it separately?

Re: FITECH EFI 600 Basic and Command center intall with pics, factory tank
Also, I'm thinking of hooking the white wire (the one that needs to be hot while cranking and running) to the wire that connects to the HEI 'BAT'. Do you see any issue with that?

Re: FITECH EFI 600 Basic and Command center intall with pics, factory tank
The kit comes with both filters. I don't think the hei + will hurt anything. But you NEED to make sure the wire on the truck is not the original resistance wire. If it is you need to replace it. Because it will only supply 9 volts after its started. I used the electric choke wire which I tied into the ignition switch

That's right.
The electric choke wire is what I'll use. Thanks again.

Did you put the supplied filter before the Command Center?

Re: FITECH EFI 600 Basic and Command center intall with pics, factory tank
I only got the an-06 filter. I'll need to check the BOM to see if I got shorted.
What about the plug for the unused fuel port (the unused return?) on the FI unit? I got a little plug that doesn't fit in the port I'm not using (I think they refer to it as a 10mm plug).

Re: FITECH EFI 600 Basic and Command center intall with pics, factory tank
I plugged the return port with that little plug.
Even though that plug looks a lot smaller, the threads were the same size. . I also only got one filter

I just spent $135 at Jegs ordering proper AN-06 lines and fittings to do my high pressure side. I think that push on hose is ok for the fuel pump to command center tank but want something a little better to the EFI.

Re: FITECH EFI 600 Basic and Command center intall with pics, factory tank
The kit only comes with the one high pressure filter. I actually had a spare similar black filter I used before the command center. The filter they supplied is on the high side. The small plug is the only one you need. It goes into the return which has a reducer in it. Look at everything again. It's prob all there. I actually have three filters. One right out of the tank. One after the mechanical pump and one after the fcc.
