Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10
Here is what he picked up this weekend. A 62 c10 runs. Just needs som ecarn work....wish i had some of the parts off those trucks i sold haha
We need doors (passenger more than driver), front fenders, bed steps. That would be a good start. Hit me up if you have some for sale that are decent!

Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10
Funny how much it looks like his old one. Plan so far is to run it like it is and start on the body work. We have a step long bed to rob the tailgate and fenders off of. So that is good. Other than that, we will need window regulators, weatherstripping, and some good ole body work. We will eventually want to swap the column. It already has power steering! We are excited about the project.

Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10
We will post pics this weekend of the before and after work. Will be replacing the carb, cleaning up the engine bay (i.e. some de-greaser and a power wash), and maybe checking plugs on it. Truck was drive daily from 2012 - 2016 then parked. So, tune up might not be a bad idea. Probably need to do an oil and transmission fluid change.
It has a few leaks that we will assess as well. Excited to dig into the project.

Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10
So will this be an old school revival? If so, you're off to a good start with the wheels. They look about the same as dad's original.

We are trying to revive for sure. And the wheels are the same! Lucked out on that one when he bought the truck.

Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10
Update time. My dad and little brother installed the new carb, power washed the truck (original green is poking through now), installed a new fuel filter behind the seat (after running out of gas haha).
Biggest update...truck has posi and does great burnouts!

Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10
Also, we are needing some assistance. Power steering was added to this truck and the first u joint in the firewall is SUPER loose. It looks just like the one on my 81 c10, but i cant find the part anywhere. I am thinking we can change to a universal aftermarket joint? Any recommendations. here is a pic of the joint we need to replace.
Thanks in advance for the help!!

Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10
Looking forward to seeing the '62 on the road. I traded work for a customer in Krum for my '64 and a '66. We do quite a bit of work around the area.

Re: Recreating Dad's 62 C10
Cleaning out a rusted fuel tank is a LOT of work. Some people put chains or rocks inside and roll it around for quite a while. Vinegar works good to remove rust once you get the crusty rust gone. Then you have the additional cost of a gas tank lining kit. I believe Eastwood makes one. If you can swing the cost, I would just go with a new tank, either in the cab or behind the differential.
