Re: Another one coming back,1965 C10
Attached some missing trim today, what a pain in the bum those trim clips are! Or am I just a muppet and not using them correctly? If some one can describe the proper use that would be great! When I tighten the nut up on the back it twists the clip and the trim comes off? Ended up using some double sided foam pads normally used for holding aircraft together! Problem now.....it's the shiniest bit on the truck!

Re: Another one coming back,1965 C10
They are pains, but the clips should have some wires on them that "supposedly" puts pressure so they won't rotate when tightening. Those wires tend to come off during removal of the clips.
At least that was the way my 70 was, I have not looked/had to deal with the 64's yet. Trim looks good.

Re: Another one coming back,1965 C10
Cheers Rian, I was actually looking for a Malibu station wagon or an El Camino, but stumbled upon this and thought I better have it, even without an engine! Looks like I may have solved that problem over in the U.S.,so fingers crossed I'll have a runner with a 350 in it. Been busy ordering parts all week for when I arrive, I love the patina on this thing!

But I haven't forgotten the C10! Installed a small re vcounter, not really ideal, but I like the position, it's that small it's virtually useless! At idle it's hardly off the stop!!!

Re: Another one coming back,1965 C10
Well it's been a while since Ive been on, seeing Martin post today reminded me. Not been up to too much on the '65, used if for carrying a load of firewood and some roofing sheets for my new car port which I'm going to build(due to increased number of vehicles . Spent the last two months in the US with work, where I picked up my '58 and fitted a secondhand engine. Back for a week and heading off the San Fransisco tomorrow morning! Managed to fill the '58 with a few parts for both, including some lowering springs for the '65.

Re: Another one coming back,1965 C10
I rented a small plot of land with a shelter whilst I was in Seattle, I bought the engine from a guy on Craig's list who was wrecking a '72 flat bed, he assured me it ran well, for $380 I was willing to take a chance. It also came with starter and all the ancillaries. I later bought a new alternator to replace the one that came with it as I had to build the engine bay wiring harness from scratch.
I ordered some engine mounts of trans dept, borrowed an engine crane from a guy I had met whilst buying some mustang parts in the past and away I went, went pretty smoothly to say the crane was on a couple of old boards!! |

Re: Another one coming back,1965 C10
Here's the engine in and punted, got it running after a bit of messing, fitted a new tank and clutch whilst I was at it. Engine will come back out when it arrives here, but it if it doesn't run and drive they charge extra for the shipping!
