that came out beautifully. if I go back to page one, it looks just like what you were going for. really the only thing you have left is to find a box for that gmc grille and send it to me

I like how youve hidden your computer and other electrical components under the seat. How do you plan to secure it all down? Will it be secured directly through the floor?

yes, the rubber is secured with metal under it and it will be bolted to the floor. I used 1/2” thick floor mat.

Ride height potentiometer from Airlift performance system. There is one per wheel.

Re: Mike D's 50 pickup build

More tub work and found out my steering column adapter was dragging on the column after torquing it so had to machine it. I don’t think I’ve ever had any aftermarket product fit perfectly from factory on this truck.

Re: Mike D's 50 pickup build

that really sucks. I feel so sorry for you.getting all that work done on on a nice clean well laid out underside....kidding.nice work. hope you're driving this summer. I have so much to do I think it will be next year for me. I've been saying that for too many years. gotta drop the ball on some stuff and just get'er done.
with a 4 link, do you not want your trans down the same angle as your pinion up? with leaf springs there is some latitude to allow for spring flex etc. wouldn't want a vibration. easy enough to fix if you do have a prob though.

Well I thought so too but the pro hotrodders around my neck of the woods swear by the 1degree difference for torque pinion lift. Ill try it out and see, easy enough to fix as you said, one turn on the top link.

Re: Mike D's 50 pickup build

nice work on the tubs! I like how you made the tub smaller, I usually buy one tub and cut it in half, one piece for each side. haha. then take the piece I cut out of the bed sides and use them to close out the tub.

Re: Mike D's 50 pickup build

Truck was "done at the end of August and then I could not get the engine to run properly. The "ran great when parked engine " when I bought it turns out was full of contamination in the oil passages and the lifters spools/pistons were seized. So I decided completely rebuild it myself in September. Now its better than new. Just got a tune on it a couple of weeks ago and it runs very well.

Re: Mike D's 50 pickup build

Sorry you had this setback. That is why I bought a running driving Camaro for my LS1 swap. I didn't trust a stranger selling an LS that is "low mile" and "runs great"....

Glad you are putting miles on it.

Re: Mike D's 50 pickup build

Thanks guys, I had a vision when I bought the truck and i turned out exactly as i wanted.

I hadn't rebuilt an engine for a few years so it was good practice. LS engines are remarkable. There was no wear what so ever in the cylinder bores, still within new specs. My mind was blown. I will buy another wrecker LS eventually but will budget rebuild parts and time when I do depending where i get it from. The truck tune is a mild 375 HP and 375 ft/lbs. The truck is super light so it's got lots of jam.

With the Ridetech and TCI setup, it drives like a new vehicle and handles very well. Minimal body roll in the corners. I kept the original bench seat to keep the original look so it's pretty entertaining in corners.

I get lots of thumbs up when I drive it.
