Re: Intended purpose of our trucks
Everybody's truck has a different "intended purpose". Some to shows, some work, some weekend cruises, some everyday transportation. My 06 duramax = everyday driver, the rest usually weekends only. sometimes it changes. your truck do what you want, me with mine I do the same. It's all good. "WE" are helping preserve these old trucks in whatever use is being used at the time. Hopefully the next generation will do the same.

Re: Intended purpose of our trucks
All of the previous responses proves the point that there trucks are "ours" and we will do what we want with our trucks. Just because I do something different with mine than you do with yours doesn't make me right or wrong. In fact, same guy, same truck, will probably give a different answer as life goes on. At 16, your truck will do EVERYTHING. At 59, usually life changes a little and you have a little more surplus money to spend on a truck that just does "certain things". JMO
It's all good. We "are all in this hobby together" no matter what type, style or use you are currently going for. Keep on trucking.

Re: Intended purpose of our trucks
Great thread!!!
I like post 5!!! My buddy had a 66 C-10, LWB. Had a mild 406, Muncie M20, 3.42 gear, posi (was a 10 bolt out of a later pickup, modified to work with factory panhard bar). That thing would smoke nearly anything on the road!!! My pickup still has to be use-able. I'm not into the lowered deal, a little lower is OK. Short bed pickups are screwed when needing to haul something heavy. Depending on what you are hauling...If you can shift the load forward on a long bed, the front suspension can absorb some of the load. A lot less so on a short bed. Lowered short bed cowboy Cadillac's are cool, just not for me... |

Re: Intended purpose of our trucks
I like seeing all these trucks still getting it done & doing work! #respect
But - I built mine for long burnouts, WFO powershifts and looking good doing it!
