Re: 1963 1/2 Ford Falcon aka Martha
I’m getting closer. I got most of the underhood and dash wiring finished. Radiator, hoses and cooling fans are done. Still need to install the throttle cable & pedal, Lokar shifter & AODe kickdown, run the exhaust from the headers before it’s drivable.
It’s true...the last 5% takes FOREVER. |

Re: 1963 1/2 Ford Falcon aka Martha
Well, I’m getting even closer! I got the Lokar gas pedal assembly and brake pedal cover, shifter (this was a PITA due to the AOD & small tunnel), throttle & kickdown cables, Sniper throttle brackets all installed. Lokar should LOVE me!
I also finalized all the power & grounds. Put in the oe Monte Carlo bar, put the grille and head light bezels...& THE HOOD ON!!! Then...I drove it! Only about an 1/8th of a mile, because it’s still open header...& it is LOUD. But I drove it! First time in 2-1/2 years. I’m going to take it to the exhaust shop this week so I can tune the Sniper, confirm the TV cable is correct and check all the small stuff. Then I’ll start putting the interior back in it. |

Re: 1963 1/2 Ford Falcon aka Martha
Taking it for exhaust tomorrow. Then I can tune the Sniper and adjust the tv cable pressure and such. Then I can get some interior back in it.
A pic to prove I’m moving forward! |

Re: 1963 1/2 Ford Falcon aka Martha
I took it for exhaust yesterday... sparks bein’ made! Ended up with 2-1/2” pipe, x-pipe and 3 chamber Flowmasters (because I’m from an era where Flows were the ShEeT).

Re: 1963 1/2 Ford Falcon aka Martha
Thanks Doug! I’m very happy with how it sounds.
I drove it for a bit of distance for the first time tonight with the exhaust and the initial tune by the Sniper. I got the TV cable adjusted with a pressure gauge so it was time for this ride. About 5 miles. Drove and ran great...but the oil pan gasket is leaking bad! D@mn it! I guess I’ll be pulling the pan to fix this problem. No biggie, but not expected, since I spent strong money on a one piece gasket. |

Couple of pictures from today. Drove it over to a buddies place, where they were having a Saleen meet.

Re: 1963 1/2 Ford Falcon aka Martha
Well after driving it some yesterday, I realized I have a pretty substantial oil leak at the front and rear of the pan. Not sure if it’s the Canton pan or the one piece gasket, but I replaced the gasket today. I’ll give it another try tomorrow.

Re: 1963 1/2 Ford Falcon aka Martha
Looks like I solved the oil pan leak...only to find out that it’s leaking oil from the rear of the intake too!!! D@mn D@mn D@mn!!! I stripped the intake back off and ordered new gaskets and I’ll use a different type of silicone for the ends this time.

Re: 1963 1/2 Ford Falcon aka Martha
My drivers seat upholstery was a bit hammered, so I ordered a pair of new covers for both front seats as my rear seat looks new. I still need to redo the door panels and rear quarter panels too. But those are for another day.

Re: 1963 1/2 Ford Falcon aka Martha
I finally got some time to get the intake manifold reinstalled today, but I’m letting the sealant totally cure before I fire it up. So, hopefully I’ll be driving it leak free tomorrow.

Re: 1963 1/2 Ford Falcon aka Martha
I let the sealant cure and took it for a drive to find that it still leaked ever so slightly from the rear. So, I did it again today. GEEZUS, I hope it’s finally fixed. I’m ready to get the interior back in the car and just drive it & enjoy.

Those gremlins you're dealing with SUCK but don't let them get you down! The car is looking great; can't wait to see the new interior!
