Just going through the pics of the truck build this morning. I thought I would post the before and after pics of the interior, The first pic is just before I tore the truck apart but had the center hump out already. The second pic is after the first snowplow event so there is some dirt tracked in the cab. It is amazing how a bit of paint, cleaning and recovering of 2 seats can transform an interior from sad to sparkling.

One of the things that I wanted to do when building this truck was try to protect the fuel tank and filler neck. The factory wheel well protection is a bit weak as designed. So I came up with an extension to the wheel well. It is a bit dirty in the picture because I just thought of showing it to you guys this morning after bringing the truck in for the headliner which I will post up later. I made the extensions from 16 gauge stainless and removed the front braces to install them. They are bolted in with the factory bolt holes that were there with stainless bolts. I built some for the front and rear of the rear wheel wells on both sides. The front ones keep the garbage off of the tank and filler neck on both sides. I am not sure if the rear ones actually accomplish anything but it has to help a little to keep the crap from flinging up inside the box sides I hope.

Good fix! I have contemplated the need for a rear inner fender that actually does something many times, but never done anything about it.

It was kind of a pain to bend up because of all the different angles and curves especially using 16 gauge stainless. But it sure helps keep the top of the tank clean.

Got the headliner and door pockets installed the other day. I will have to say the headliner goes a long way as far as making the interior a lot quieter even without carpet. Doesn't sound so much like a tin can inside. I think the upholstery guy did a nice job on the liner and pockets.

He really did a nice job on everything for the interior. I really didn't have to plow a lot this winter. Did have some snow on sunday nite into Monday morning. Did the neighbors drive didn't bother with mine since the ground isn't really frozen anymore didn't really want anymore gravel in my yard plus I think most of the snow will be gone this weekend because it is supposed to warm up this weekend.

I do a lot less plowing than I used to. I was in this truck sometimes for 19 hours at a time. These days I plow the 2 commercial lots that I own and the 3 driveways on my road including my own. I will have to say after all the work on this truck I am a lot more careful about rubbing on tree branches and whatever else is along side the drive ways. Last summer when I was working on getting the truck painted I called one of the neighbors with the longest driveway and told her she needed to get everything trimmed back or I wasn't going to plow any more. She did a nice job on that so it hasn't been an issue. It still is a plow truck or there wouldn't be any real point of owning it for me.

I finally had time to get back to the details on the plow truck this weekend. GF was off picking up a horse so I had some free time. Been working on cleaning and polishing the trim at night after work. Cleaned the tape residue off the mounting blocks and put on some fresh tape. Looks pretty good for original trim that has been abused. Still looking for the piece of trim for the tail gate band that I put somewhere safe in the shop but cant remember where. Of course the passenger side door trim hit on the fender when opening the door. I had to adjust the door and fender a bit, which was a pain in the rear. I did run it through the car wash the other day before I put the trim on, it seemed to hold up well to its first winter of salt.

used the truck last week for the first time this plow season. Had a few issues, luckily it was a very small amount of snow because I could not get the shifter for the transfer case to move. So I pulled the shifter out and disassembled it. Cleaned and lubed everything with a marine grease then reinstalled it. Works better than it has in a long time. I also had some issues with the plow controls for up and down. I have a few old controls that I have bought at the swap meets, I installed one of those and adjusted everything cable and valve wise, it seems to work very well. I guess we will find out the next time it snows.

I like my old style plow control. I was installing the 56018 style when I was working in the dealership back in the 80's, never really cared for that style. So I just keep buying up the old T handle ones and making them work.

After looking for the u shaped trim piece for the tail gate band and not having any luck finding it in my shop, I ended up buying a Chevrolet tailgate band and stealing the piece out of it. Swap meets are great for this kind of things, I had been looking on ebay and every one of the dinged up pieces of crap were $80 and $20 shipping at min. I bought this one for $20 took it apart, used some reducer and cleaned the black paint off. Reassembled using the new u piece, the band I had, gmc emblem off the 79 and used the back piece from the swap meet one because it was better. I know it isn't perfect but it is a plow truck.

Just an update on this truck, I have had a hard ratcheting noise in truck for the last couple of years. last winter I was hoping it was going to be able to finish out the season without breaking. I figured out the problem was the chain in the transfer case(NP203). I looked for a replacement chain for a bit and could not find one. So after researching what to do next I decided to replace the 203 with a 205. I found a guy that rebuilds them and ordered one. He was hoping to have one ready to ship next Monday. I will take some pics and post them once I receive it and get it installed.

Duel 77-87 Factory air cleaner, duel inlet from rad support . Down sized 9' to new 8' Steel flat bed Was a 77 454 w/308 gear. Taken out 550 lbs. up front with motor clip change.
