Door Assembly...the EASY way

Roll the window down all the way and slide it back till it hits the rear of the door. Picture shows clearance to install vent window.

Install vent window from inside as shown in picture.
Then pivot window in place while leaning the top towards back of window frame, there is plenty of room for this because the window is all the way back and the door latch has not been installed yet.

Roll the window all the way up while guiding it into forward wing window glass run channel

Install the door latch, handle relay and lock rod as one unit then.
Install rear window run channel as pictured, rotate counterclockwise then pivot into place (counterclockwise looking down)

Latch and associated parts preassembled for installation.

The proper tools with picture of screws per location. (The pictured arm rest machine screw is not correct but is close, the correct one is a tiny bit shorter with a captured lock washer)
The regulator and door latch relay both take the shortest machine screws.

Got specs on the bit you ise for that door latch (#4)? Those guys can be a bear.

Like the others have said I have found this thread extremely helpful as well.

Its a snap-on 3/8drive bit like this one.

the picture of the one in the link is generic though, its actually much larger. My electric impact usually gets them out if it doesn't then I switch to a 1/2" drive air impact with a 1/2 to 3/8 adapter. Its really the only way to remove those screws and all the rest on the door, they are tight.

I followed these instructions this weekend for both doors. Great instructions! I got a Craftsman #4 Phillips 3/8" drive bit from my local Sears, Item # 00944373000 Model # 44373 to handle the door latch screws. An impact driver with the #4 bit worked perfectly.

Excellent instructions and greatly appreciated. One question - does the window felt/weather strip running in the top channel of the door back down through the rear run for the side glass require any adhesive to stay in place? I have it all in place but seems very easy for it to pop out at any time. Thought a very thin bead of adhesive and roll it up tight for the night would do the trick but don’t want to if not needed.
