I took this picture this summer by the oak tree behind a country store (well... liquor store now) on one of my routes home from down where I do most of my work. I recently posted somewhere about a mid-late '70s Chevy pickup stretched to 12' bed with tandem rear. This is where that truck sat out front back then

Did I mention I had started work on this project I bought from a board member? I have a bunch of suspension parts at the powder coater. It is off the frame and going back together.

No, I don't believe you did. A short for a change. Looks like it has already been converted to 5 lug all around. What else is going on there?

Nope, don't believe I ever knew about that one... which probably means you showed us, told us all about it, and I don't remember a thing. Purdy dang kewl, a '67 Custom 95% all original and all there.

I have no 67-72 or Squarebody news to report, but I did pull a house with my GMT800.
(lol) I always said that truck could pull a house: now I can prove it! K

Thanks it was busy and costly with the mechanical failures I had with the engine rebuild. Now the summer is over it's parked till May again, Canadian living. That's ok I'm adding more stuff this winter and giving it a good checking over.

Re: Pic Thread: Me & My Truck(s) 2018
I was going to say "I can't find anything wrong with it" but that sounded kind of arrogant, like the supreme judge of things. Just right sounds better. I'm especially into the whole perked up 283 thing.
I ended up taking my Suburban to Carlisle Trucks in Aug because I didn't have time to swap the racks for the cap and rain was forecast at night, and I camp out in the vehicle. So no pictures of the '72, but it was still a thing that was all about 67-72 trucks... parts! Here's a truck I have a swap meet friend who has his own old car junk yard on the family farm. He's a great guy and I kinda like the fact we bother have a thing for the GMT400 K2500 Suburbans as workhorses. All packed up, stopping by to say goodbye

I have a GMT800 tucked away in the corner. This SS is the most fun to drive of any truck I have ever driven.

The chassis to the 67. We picked up the rest of the parts from the powder coaters yesterday so assembly will start soon.

Re: Pic Thread: Me & My Truck(s) 2018
I found a regular cab shortbed (red) that someone did the SS job on. I went to buy it but someone had just made the deal... bummer
I really disliked these trucks when the came out, and it seems many still feel that way from what I see here. But they have grown on me as a modern classic. I actually like the chiseled lines... which I feel emanate Cadillac styling. The GMT400s trimmed the fat and the result was a super clean no BS body style. Then they pumped some fat back in till the 800s came out all trimmed back again but more chiseled than rounded. It is very distinctive styling unlike the model before or after. It is the last of it's kind, I feel, and marks the era quite well

An example of changing moods is those SS wheels. I took mine off immediately (They are laying in storage). Now I look at those and like the look.
Jocko has a thread on a nice low mileage GMT800 he bought a while back over in the 99=06 section.

What does that thing weigh? 10,000 lbs? or?... Its something that is pretty controversial around these parts in Canada because no one wants to cough up the land/space to put them in...which is too bad. As well, local municipal boards aren't sure what to make of them in terms of the usual 'stuff' they want in place for insurance, etc, etc Those are great options for a lot of people tho' who prefer a low impact, downsized lifestyle. ....very cool! All good Coley

Re: Pic Thread: Me & My Truck(s) 2018
I think they're cool. Just another kind of camper the way I see them. Whatever regs those should reg a tiny house.
This thread needs some 67-72 pictures. My truck with the 30' walkboard on the rack this summer. That Werner walkboard is as old as the truck. The guy I started running aluminum siding for started out in a new white '72 Custom/30 single wheel with a Reading utility body. He ran 8.25/9.75 steelies painted black, no hubcaps. I remember seeing it running around with scaffold & ladders on it. I worked with him through a winter and broke off to start my own crew, for him, and bought his walkboards. I still have the 18' Louisville, too, which is my favorite ever. Both are one man rated. They make them all 2-man now.

As a habit, I tend to dislike factory alloys. For one, they are normally over styled, but also whats so special when every vehicle has them? The whole idea for us car guys for years was to personalize to our taste. Now it's, "I like those alloys GM put on your car." "Alloys? Is that good?" But as time goes by, every now and then, I take a second look and like a factory wheel. Also... once a vehicle becomes a model or two back, left alone factory look starts to stand out.

Re: Pic Thread: Me & My Truck(s) 2018
I was up to visit a friend yesterday and it reminded me I did a job for him wrapping facial with aluminum on a building for him. He now wants gutter & spouting. He on top of South Mountain just into PA. To get to his place I have to cross over the mountain and come back up the other side. Old Forge Rd. runs up along a stream through park land. Real pretty drive. This was last summer

Re: Pic Thread: Me & My Truck(s) 2018
I would but it's the only one I have.
Well, looking square at the end of the year here. 2018 is about summed up! I started this thread for the purpose of being a place to reflect on the year. Just got it primed up a little in advance. I have one more picture of mine, a rare one. I never bought the truck to work out of, so certainly not to haul a set of ladder racks. They come on and off easily, but they stay on and I do like it just fine that way. Last spring I got a capoppernopy thing and one came off the other went on. I think it was when the cap (my lingo) came off and racks going back on in early summer. So that's what's rare, nothing on it's back!

2018 was a big year for my '68. First trip outside in nearly 10 years, and started the refreshed engine for the first time. Should be road worthy in 2019!
