Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed
Those look like Speed Engineering headers? Do you have the doors hung yet?

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed
They are actually some cheap eBay headers. Passenger side required a little modification but they should work fine. Not yet on the doors, very little time right now. Plus, the boy broke his finger in football and we find out this week if he's going to need surgery.

Lol, yeah we're both fortunate. Unfortunately, we're moving at a snails pace now. New goal of next summer.

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed
We were able to get the radiator mounted. It's a cheaper one, from a place in Minnesota, so we will see how well it works. It looks pretty nice though. It did take a little fabrication to make it fit. Had to stretch the mounting brackets.

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed
Who's the manufacturer? Looks like an LS swap radiator, does it have a trans cooler and a steam port?

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed
I bought it through Auto City Classic, Inc. I don't really know if they manufacture or are a middle man. It's an LS Swap radiator with the transmission cooler and steam port.

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed
Progress is still slow - managed to get the back glass in and exhaust has been started.
Need to order a bunch of parts.

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed
I didn't take any pictures but last weekend we were able to button up the steering linkage and transmission linkage. Both fought us the whole time and it was way more frustrating than it should have been but it's done.

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed
Spent a few hours on Saturday working on the truck. The boy was able to get the door hinges bead blasted and ready for paint. I worked on cleaning up the gas tank. Used steel wool, aluminum polish, and rubbing compound. Came out a lot better than I expected.

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed
On Saturday, we were able to rebuild the heater box and replace the core. I really should have done a vintage air system but maybe sometime in the future. I also got the fuel lines ran to the regulator and back to the tank.

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed
If you remember, the inside of the bed on this truck had been sprayed with bed-liner by the previous owner. The only part we are reusing is the bed sides. I had previously tried chemicals to strip it with no success. Also tried heat and a scraper with minimal success. So Saturday my son and I spent 4 hours tag-teaming one bed side with a wire wheel attachment on a grinder and small sanding discs. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. Stuff is nasty!

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed
Yeah that stuff was ugly. Looks much better now that you persevered through that fun task! I'm planning on doing a sprayed liner, but only on the floor.

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed
I recently had a bed liner sprayed in a new truck and the company got overspray on my bumper. They took it right off with Brake Cleaner. This info does you no good now and I am sorry I didn't chime in sooner!

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed
I appreciate the comment but don't think that would have worked. I tried chemical stripper specifically for bed liners and it wouldn't touch it. Probably due to how long it had been on the truck. Who knows though?

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed
My son didn't have school last Thursday so he spent half the day down at the shop working on stripping the bed liner off the other bed side. Saturday, he was able to get it finished up. Glad that is over with.

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed
No real major updates lately. We finished the exhaust for the most part. Just needs to be finish welded and painted. I'll take some pics when it's all done. My brother snapped this picture at the shop the other day and I thought it was pretty cool. Just a few of the current projects:
1 - My nephew's 1941 Ford Pickup in paint booth (Jeep Anvil Gray). Also in picture is his frame. LS Swapped. 2 - My dad's 1940 Ford Pickup (Grabber Green). He picked it up on a trade and is building it, most likely to sell. 3 - Customer's 1936 Ford (Yellow under car cover). Basically finished and waiting to go to upholstery. 4 - Customer's 1963.5 Ford Falcon Sprint (bare metal). Cool build, lots of suspension stuff. Coyote Motor. 5 - My dad's 1932 Ford Roadster under car cover. 6 - My son's c10.

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed
Spent the last couple weekends prepping the back half of the frame for paint. My dad sprayed it this morning.

Re: Son's 68 c10 Short Bed
Any updates on the radiator? I'm looking at buying the same one. Looks like it came without a cap? Did it come with both sides of the fan connectors?

It didn't come with the cap. The connectors seem to be all there. I will need to buy a fan wiring kit with the relays and such to make it all work. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
