Re: 1970 ... Its our 50th Year. Lets see 1970 Trucks

My 70 I'm deciding if I'm going to go through with the build. Just brought her back from California after 5yrs 3 of them sitting down at my dads. Was a daily up here in Oregon and California until I parked her in 2017 to move back to Oregon for a job position i had originally before moving back to California became available back up here in Oregon was offered to me. I have owned her 8 years and really haven't came to the conclusion of how to mange my time to rebuild and a realistic budget sorry for the picture I know she looks rough.

Re: 1970 ... Its our 50th Year. Lets see 1970 Trucks

Mine, the night I bought it. The next day I decided that this fender was perhaps a little too far gone and put the other box on it. I explained to my nephew that I haven't painted it because I like Halloween so much. It is an original V8 automatic SWB truck which is extra rare in Canada. The 307 was swapped out for a 1970 350 at some point.

Since it runs good and actually goes down the highway pretty quick, it is my daily driver most days, and as a result it is a Project of Least Concern. Which means I haven't done much to it, I spend all my time and money on four other ones which I don't enjoy nearly as much as this one.

An unexpected nice part of having a Canadian truck is having documentation as well. Not only is this a lifetime Alberta truck, I am the first person to register it outside of the city of Calgary. Love this truck, someday I will give it the attention it deserves.

According to my vin my truck was made at the Oshawa Canadian plant. Not sure if truck stayed in Canada or sold in US. Where would I look for that paperwork you have or how does that work?

I'm trying to get in touch with him/them to search my 68 right now, I will let you know. I emailed George Zapora, he seems to be the guy in charge, I will see if he responds.

I'd be interested in your truck's story, I have always thought it odd that a Canadian truck from this era would end up in the USA. Wonder if there is a thread devoted to that.

Re: 1970 ... Its our 50th Year. Lets see 1970 Trucks

1970 GMC C2500. My grandpa bought it back in 1970 and my dad bought it form him in the 80's and I bought it from last year. It had a camper on it for most of its life. Wood bed rotted out long ago and my dad replaced it with synthetic deck boards to make it functional. Summer project will be replacing that with a true wood bed again. This is my first post but I have been following this forum for years now. So much great advice and knowledge!

Beautiful truck. Just a suggestion if it were my truck I would get a set of the Chevrolet letters for the tailgate in white or black as I think would just finish things off.

Re: 1970 ... Its our 50th Year. Lets see 1970 Trucks

Here is mine, I got it in 1989, did a 80’s paint job on it (lol)

Never seen snow or salt, all original sheet metal.

I was hoping to have it ready this year, but a heart attack last year has slowed me down.

Back on 4 wheels,

Thanks, it’s the original grille, had the small dents hammered out, polished and clear coated, painted the insert.

Now I just have to get the rest done.
