Re: Favorite Candy
You would never guess by looking at me but we don't keep candy in the house much and I never drink soft drinks.
That said, I like anything chocolate and nuts. I like dark chocolate. I like Butterfingers and I love Brach's Maple Nut Goodies, but Brach's recently dropped Maple Nut Goodies from their offerings. Last week we found some cherry centered, peanut clusters at Menards that were great. My wife called this afternoon and asked if I wanted to drive thirty miles to get some more.

My summertime go to treat is a chocolate Butterfinger malt with an extra squirt of chocolate syurp. The gals that work in the ice cream shop start making it when they see me pull into the parking lot..... ... They call it the "Leon Special" If they hire someone new it takes a few days to get them trained. Quote:

Haha, yep, that's about right. Although I feel bad for the folks to like them if they're at all gone. I looked them up online, and I bet I could get through that white plastic, I mean chocolate coating, just fine to get to the good stuff inside.

There is an ice cream shop right by new place that is supposed to be really good. I haven't gone there yet but that's going to change quick. Maybe they can make me a "Leon Special' My neighbor (not the crazy one) was walking by and stopped to say hello. He had some Rocky Road and it looked really good. It's funny, his doctor told him to start walking to get in shape and he was eating ice cream while he was walking.

Re: Favorite Candy
Speaking of Butterfingers. My preferred ice cream is Blue Bell's butter crunch. It has small bits of Butterfinger in vanilla ice cream.

True story: A couple of years ago a retired teacher I know took his handicapped Grandson to the DK Ice cream store here in town. He asked his Grandson what he wanted and he said he wanted a chocolate malted milk with butterfinger in it. He then asked his Grandpa if they could make it more chocolately. When Al told the owner what he wanted she said "Oh, you want a "Leon Special". The Grandson orders it himself now and just tells them he wants a "Leon Special". One of the perks of living in a small town..... LockDoc

I quit eating them after the new "improved" recipe came out a few years ago, they got worse.

Unfortunately we can't get Blue Bell up here but we have it when we go to the daughters in Houston. I will have to try that. I don't know where it is available but we have Edy's Ice Cream available here at the Dollar Store. It's actually pretty darn good ice cream. They have a good Butterfinger, and Waffle Cone, and Mint Chocolate Chip, and Butter Pecan, and..... ... Oddly though, I don't care for their Chocolate. The best Chocolate Ice Cream as far as I'm concerned is Bryer's. I hope they never change their recipe. LockDoc

Fine candy like Sees, being a box full of the same thing, dark chocolate with chewy caramel. Wholly cow with inflation, those run near a buck a piece now. I still remember 10 cent BIG candy bars. As commercial candy goes what smells better than a newly opened bag of M&Ms? Milky Way, Snickers, 100K Grand Bar, Reeces. I like full bars of Nestle Crunch, but somehow the small "fun sizes" aren't so good. I don't recall ever seeing an UNO or Necco bar

My dad got some UNO bars for a nickel each at Pic N Save (Now Big Lots) when I was a kid. I loved them. Still do but you can't get them for a nickel anymore. Whenever we have ever gotten Sees there are always some that end up with one bite taken out of them because somebody got one they didn't like.

Yeah, I bought a Snickers bar at a 7-11 a couple of weeks ago, and it was $2. WHAT!? Guess I'm getting old...

Re: Favorite Candy
You pretty likely don't have street vendors selling sausages, either, out there in the hinterlands. One of my sons went to San Jose State University for 3 years. Out drinking, on the way back to the dorm, they had two choices for food. 7-11 or a street vendor with home made sausage for the same price and fresh sauerkraut, onions, etc. His friends wanted to go to 7-11.
