Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10

I spend a half day on Friday cleaning the truck in preparation for a car show on Saturday. Here are the results of hours of washing and drying and a bit of polishing the chrome and aluminum bits. I didn't polish the wheels though, but they still look pretty darn good, if I do say so myself.

And a gratuitous club promo shot

I drove about 140 miles round trip to the Lone Star Deluxe car show in Texas City. Managed about 21 mpg too!

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10

I took a few pictures a while back with a new camera I bought. I didn't play with the settings in the camera, but just let it do its thing on the auto settings, but I think these pictures came out pretty nice. Once I get a handle on this photography thing, I'll try and post some better pics. Sorry they're smaller, the "gallery" isn't working yet.

I'll also upload them to my gallery once it's back up and running, so I can upload larger, better looking pictures.

The truck has sure come a long way from your starting point.

BTW, what did you ever do with that long bed you bought from me a few years ago?

Thank you! I took the tailgate trim panel off (the black aluminum piece with Chevrolet letters) so we can see the stamped "Chevrolet" and I have billet lenses from Marquez. So yes, I've thought about it and already have my plan in place. Just need to fill the screw holes from the old trim panel and fix a few flaws when I tear into it for a new paint job. It looks good from about 20', and shows much better in pictures than it actually is. Plus I try to hide the ugly in my shots.

Yes it has. The bed is still sitting in pieces, waiting for my project. It turns out I wasn't quite ready to tackle that job yet.

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10

Here are a few pictures I took at the Seawall in Galveston, after the C10Club took a cruise down there from Houston. Aaron (aboesec10) and I drove together to join the rest of the club, then cruised down to Galveston with a known 115 trucks (maybe more if they weren't counted). We ended up as the last two trucks in the pack coming into Galveston.

Right as we were getting onto the island, I had a malfunction with my fans, so I overheated. Well, I guess it happened before, but by that point my truck threw a CEL and my temp gauge was pegged. The ECM didn't like that so it started to run ROUGH. Thankfully I got it shut off and we rigged up a temporary hard wire to get us to a parts store just down the road. We got some wire, fuses and terminals and hard wired the fans to the battery to get me home. Had to stop at a gas station for water for our trucks, and us. He was a bit cautious at this point, thinking he might need a little extra for his too.

We got to the seawall a bit late, so it's just our two trucks. The rest of the club left the lot about 5 minutes after we got there (only scheduled to be there for an hour anyway). Anyway, enough of story time, here are the pics:

My 2 favorite trucks on the board in the SAME pic?? How cool is that! I saw both of y'alls rides at LST a while back and loaded up my phone with pics, but these pics are AWESOME I now have a new desktop background photo. I hope someday next year to drive mine to Houston area to have all 3 of ours in the same pic. -Brian

Yeah, it could have been much worse, but the feeling you get when you're far from home thinking there's something majorly wrong with the new engine is surely a feeling you don't want often. Glad it was an easy fix. Thanks for the compliment Steve.

I'll be there for sure. What a great show that was... Lord willing I will be driving MY 72 swb too Its going to be almost a triplet of yours and Aarons ride, but with white on the sides and roof and full upper and lower trim. I also have the chrome outer grill and standard inner grille but in chrome also. I cant wait to get rockin on it again. Just curious, do you guys know whos truck is quicker? You are running a gen 4 6.0 and he has a gen 5 5.3 correct? I have the same setup as Aaron with a 4:11 gear in a 6L80e.

We haven't actually tried to figure that out yet. I think his might be a touch faster with acceleration because of the direct injection technology, but with factory tunes they're rated about the same for power (360 HP 380 ft-lbs). Naturally neither of us are running a factory tune, but we have similar mods and used the same tuner to program them both, so it's probably still pretty close. He has 4.10s and I have 3.73s so he'd probably get me from a start, but I'd get him over a longer distance. This is all hypothetical, bench racing of course.
