Thanks Don

Well Friday was wheels day here are a couple of the picks I took

Great sleeper truck

.

And this one the dash is all steel and big block power the guy said he's had it since he was 19 so over 30 years

A great day out with good friends and great cars and trucks . So tomorrow (Sunday) I will be in the garage back working on the truck . The weather doesn't look to good , so it may slow down the progress a little , but getting something done is better than non at all

Some more C10 goodness.....

Wheels Day 2016. PHOTO LINK http://retrorides.proboards.com/thre...-day-2016-pics

Once again a pleasure. Brilliantly done for charity every year.

I took over 160 photos, and a couple of videos. And this year was brilliant for Nicola and I.

Mate Martin went with us and then went to see a friend afterwards, on the way home we all met up with Kerry "Disasterbus" at Cobham services for a coffee. Always good to see friends.

BONUS VIDEO.......

Rather than post up all the photos, I will keep it relevant.

This is how I dream of finishing my truck........

Load bed......... Hmmmmm, yum.

A few other trucks and a panel were all the 60-66 C10's

Ohhhh.... C20

And lastly, greetings from Disasterbus.

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Just a little update. I got some time in the garage over the Easter holiday . I had collected the prop from Andy two weeks ago , so it was time to clean it up change over the UJ's and the centre bearing. I had already purchased a billet alloy one from POL .

The two props together note more yellow paint

Because the cab is in the garage at the moment getting to the vice is awkward . Luckily I have a pull out one in the back of the van .

The centre bearing needed a small cut to be able to remove it

All cleaned up ready for paint

All painted ready to be reassembled

Test fitted to the truck so that's why centre bearing picture shows bolts not fully fitted

I only test fitted it , as I need to paint the auto box . Then fit the new sump pan to it and change the filter . I hope to do this soon , I am just waiting for Rian to return my engine stand so I can put the auto box on the stand . I also need to fit the flexplate and paint the crossmember I made .

Funny, in all my trucks I have never had to deal with the carrier bearing thing. I guess always choosing a SWB truck helps eliminate that.

That's the best way not to have to change one Bill . It's not a hard job just time consuming.

Thanks Don back on track for a while , next weekend I should be at Rian's . I think Paul's coming over. I can then grab my engine stand if all goes to plan . so I can do the auto box once I get my stand back .

I love the colour of that dark blue truck at wheels day. What paint did you use on the prop? has a great shine to it, is it Por15?

Hi Andy , the paint I used for the prop , was a small tin I got from my mums shed . It has a great finish and it didn't need primer .

This is it

Not much of an update as I have a lot going on . I had to work Saturday so I got a little time in the garage on Sunday .

So far during the week I got the box painted now I have my engine stand back .

So on Sunday morning I flipped it over and fitted the new filter .

The old style filter

The new one fitted

New sump fitted and I also fitted a Ron Francis Transmission Neutral Safety Switch

Way to Martin, you are making great progress.

I feel like an idiot. After alll these years of wrestling with automatic trannys on the floor, I see your brilliant idea of using the engine stand to make it nice and easy to work with.

Tranny looks great Martin. That's a very helpful warning on the tin too, next time you're feeling thirsty in the garage you'll know not to drink that paint

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Just had Martin over to pick up some bits for Ian Brown.

He also brought along the new dual filament LED lamps he had bought for the back up lights, we in the UK of course have to use Amber lamps for indicators, and they ideally should be separate from our rear lights.

Testing them, the amber is bright enough.

The eye searingly bright 50 watt white lamps will make great backup lights as both of us reverse into our properties.

Simply put, they fit in the new units I bought.

Biggest problem will be finding some replacement twin filament sockets to take the new LED lamps.

Has anyone else done this switch before?

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Well this weekend I had to clear out my shed . Ready for the garage I purchased a while back . I managed to get most of the panels into the little shed .

In the process of sorting it all out , I decided to pass on some of the parts one of them being the gas tank from inside the cab . After speaking to Rian he told me Pete one of the guys in the UK needed one so Rian gave him a call and he then rang me to say thanks , and arrange collection .

There are quite a few C10s over in the Uk now and most of the guys are on this board . Best of all we are all helping each other .
