Dennis, looks good. How close are you to firing it? If I lived out there I'd tag along to the pick a part seeing as I am off work all this week.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
Dennis - that 2nd option is what I sent you in my PM just a bit ago. They aren't necessary, but sure won't hurt to run them.
As for the Twist Tite hose, you can use it with regular FI hose clamps for connections to the sending unit, switch valve, etc. They also have their own AN fittings for them that do not require clamps. Just push in the fitting and it is done! This is what I used initially for my fuel system. I just placed an order with Summit for SS braided line to replace that long piece I ran from the filter to the fuel rail. I am also going to reroute the trans cooler lines so I can get the AC compressor installed! Twist Tite fitting:

Progress is looking good Dennis. Those inner fenders look amazing. Was Amy upset that you made her sleep on the couch that night?

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
man, my buddy showed me some special undercoating they use at his shop and i was amazed! i had him do the underside of the inner fenders and i'm going to have him do the underside of the cab with it also. the stuff is really nice! i picked up some parts today at pick n pull today! i found a CLEAN passengerside inner fender, the chrome trim on the lower part of the '79 grille, and i got the wire harness out of an '87 for the fuel sending units and switching valve i'll post up a few pics in a bit. oh yea also picked up the radiator cover piece that bolts to the core support! looks beautiful!!! he also undercoated the bottom of that too!

How long is that piece? do you know how many pieces, if more than one, to the switch on the dash?

Dennis,
You are making some serious progress on your engine install! It's always amazing how fast things go with the ducks in line. Wish I was this disciplined about our builds. |

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
its 3 pieces. 1 to the sending units and switching valve. then 4 wires from there go along the frame rail to the firewall plug.(3 go the the plug and the 4th goes into the fuseblock. then the piece thats under the dash to the switch. (4wires)

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
i dont know... i just know it is different from my original one. my orig. sending units only have 1 wire (no electric fuel pump)just like the switching valve only had 1 wire. the '87 has 2 wires on the sending unit and 4 on the switching valve and 4 on the cab switch.

Looking good Dennis. I really like the radiator support piece. What color are you going with on the rest of the core support?

Can you draw a diagram for the harness? I have a 86 and I will need to find a 87 to pull the harness, unless it looks easy to modify mine. thanks rongstad |
