I’d go with the dash color. Great work. You’ve got me designing my temporary paint booth in my head now.

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..
Heres a other little trick,,,I dont know why I didnt think of it earlier...
At work we have returned goods sales about 4x a year...usually able to score lots of good shop supplies.. Everything you can get in a brown paper sack for $10...not uncommon to have several hundred dollars worth of stuff in one sack...always lots of masking tape, so I have a good supply... Well after I sprayed the raptor on the fenders , I was trying to keep paint off it...I had been using masking paper and taping the edges ...but when you start moving stuff around , it was real easy to tear it all loose.. Then it dawned on me, I have plenty of masking tape...some of it 6in wide...dont even know why I put it in my bag, but I dont know what else I'd use it for...ever...so I decided to just tape the fender back sides... well it works so much better than the paper...heres how I did it..just layed it down in sections ,and then taped the edges with 1in...seems to be working really good...

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..
Update
Bad news - good news For everybody that thinks things always go flawless...well they dont for me.. I was fixing to roll the bed out of the "booth"...and I was feeling of the paint and felt something funny.. Got the light up close..and yep...there it was..a perfect tyvek impression on the stake pocket..inspection of my suit confirmed it..I must have brushed up against the bed at some point...I tried wet sanding it out, but couldnt get it...then I started seeing primer thru the paint...so I hit it with 400g and will recoat it...luckily all I have to do is the corner ,,so I'll tape it off and redo that... Good news is I got the tape mark out of the fender where I had the run...not sure how much paint thickness I have left...so I may just go ahead and recoat the whole fender... I expect a lot more re-dos before this is over.. Have the whole front clip ready to go in booth, but it started raining hard...I have to move things outside to reposition everthing so I'll just wait a day or so Will start wet sanding the painted parts next...

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..
Well, while I'm waiting out the rain I thought I'd get another little job done...the screws that hold the headlight bezels to the truck didnt make it thru the removal process...the heads twisted off ,or the phillips slot stripped on every one..and they were made of brass, so they didnt stand much of a chance..
Well the heads of the originals are somewhat unique, and of course you cant buy then either..so I got some stainless screws , turned the od of the head down to match the brass ones....the brass one had a little chamfer on the back , like a mini countersink..so I copied that...

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..
More red paint... I was really wanting to do the hood and grill support with the front fenders...but I didnt have enough room..with having to redo the one rear fender and bed post it ate up all my room...so I had to settle for the re-dos and front fenders and door hinges..
I had some serious orange peel in spots on what I painted before..pds says 8-10psi at gun..I bumped it up to 12psi..it seemed to help..the other alternative was more thinner which for me would mean more runs... I did get another little run where I got to close going around the curve on one front fender..caught it with tape..couple more coats and it's hard to see now, so it should wet sand out..also got the other rear fender wet sanded..orange peel gone on it,but it did take some effort..

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..
No problem Roger... on the lower part of the fender, it makes a 90deg turn in a curve about the dia of a 5gal bucket...as I was coming rou d the curve , I got the gun to close..I was trying to keep the nozzle the same distance from the fender all the way around...I just got to close on one pass...if you get to close you'll have a run...
The white mark's are the motion I was using going round the curve...the yellow is where the run was It's the same thing that happened on the rear fender...going round the curve and got to close

Had a little paint left over and since I had the cowl vent cover ready, I went ahead and sprayed it to..and one side of the tailgate latches

Looks really good! I bet Roger was wondering about the “caught it with tape” comment. I think l know what you did, bent the tape in a loop to remove the excess paint?
