Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
I have a NAPA that is like that... you can show them a bolt or nut and they will come from the back with the proper replacement... One time I took a fine threaded small locking nut that holds the spindle on a dana 44 axle to them... he looked at it and said "well, that looks like the same nut the holds the piston rod onto the crank in a SBC". sure enough it was perfect!
Got the rad support and water pump mounted today...

Got the fan, fan clutch, water pump and shroud mounted...
Noticed that m NOS clutch fan is about 1/2" deeper than stock... doesn't look like it will hurt anything though... Thank goodness I still had my old water pump lying around since the studs that hold the pulley and fan on are hard to find new. Fine threads on one end and course on the other, plus they have to be long enough to fit through the triple groove cast pulley...

thanks... here is a comparison...
maybe I should cut a hole in the intake for the oil fill tube... think I would get shavings in the engine? now . . then . .

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
Picked up some OEM style Wittek hose clamps today... tried to find them from a board vendor but couldn't find any... was going to order from Classic Parts but ended up stopping by a local parts store, CJ Pony Parts, they specialize in F@rd Mustangs! sorry but Wittek made hose clamps for everyone... even John Deere guys buy them. $3.50 - $4.50 each though...

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
Went over to John's (sourkrout) house today for some powdercoating... Stuff came out really nice, thanks for the help John...
We made a nice little jig to stretch the hood springs in order to coat the coils... Did two hinges with springs, rad support braces, booster bracket support, clutch boot retainer (i think that's what it is?), headlight buckets and was able to blast a few other items that will get painted...

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
thanks...
I would highly suggest investing in a blasting cabinet and powdercoat gun if anyone is starting their project. The powder and blasting media are pretty cheap and the items will pay for themselves after you do your project. John put his old insert oven onto a wood frame with wheels so we can move it around the garage and bake parts as needed, nice setup. The powder is super easy to do as long as the part is super clean. We even chatted about the possibility of a mobile blasting/PC stand at the carlisle swap meet/car shows... How cool would it be to find your old part in the swap meet, and have it blasted before you left the show?

Looking good Mike. I'd love to have my own powdercoating outfit. Everything I own would be coated.

also mike had mentioned columbia coatings, i have dealt with them since 2004 and have never been dissappointed yet! great customer service. their powder flows a lot nicer than any other i have used! mike, i had taken that battery back and it was junk he could not even get it to read on their tester! needless to say i walked out with another one, hopefully not to be the same?? the guy at advance said almost everyone he has sold he has had to replace at least once!

Nice work Mike, the parts look great.
I used the cabinet fo the first time today, even though the compressor is a 60 gal 125 psi it does OK on small parts. Keep up the great work.
