When it comes to plumbing I'm a little slow. I'm looking for the fittings to make this work. I imagine it is a -6 line, but I think I need a metric to an AN fitting on the pump so I can run steel braided line. Then I will need the same style that is standard to AN for the gearbox. I did a few searchs and alot of reading and looking and never could find my answer. Again my coworkers truck for an example

Thanks for that air conditioning link! I have been looking for some good dash vents cheap and they seem to have them.

Here is another link for compressor blocks and a lot of other air conditioning stuff.

The english power steering gear should use these fittings to convert to #6AN


Aeroquip FBM2964 5/8-18 male inverted flare to #6 AN male $6.95 Summit


Aeroquip FBM2965 11/16-18 male inverted flare to #6 AN male $7.95 Summit


Then the #6 right angle hose ends will fit those like Earl's EAR-809106ERL

I did mention I was a little slow when it comes to plumbing. SO forgive me for what I'm about to type. You mentioned the PS gear being english. I've always used the terms standard or metric. Since metric came from europe so I associate english with the metric system. (Boy, I hate feeling stupid.) My PS gear is a 72 so it should be standard. The fittings that you mentioned are standard. See it is easy to confuse me. Maybe the word english is tripping me up. Thanks for your help and info.

Alan,

The English use inches, that's where we picked up the bad habit. The rest of Europe uses metric. Sorry for the confusion, English=Standard. Yep the 71 box would be English, whoops I mean Standard.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Still working one cabinets. It's a long story. I'll leave it at that. Got a little sanding done. The back panel is done. I know that is so exciting. Finally finished installing my front shocks. Had to pick up some new lower bolts. It only took 4 months to do that. But, hey I can mark something off the list.



While I was picking up bolts I picked up the long bolts for the motor mounts. I was missing one of coarse so I had to get 2 that matched. I was going from memory on what diameter bolts I needed. Well you know how the memory works. Thought the bolts were bigger than what they actually are. But did take the water pump off and paint it. Another thing off the list.

My wife laid a Honey do list on my desk one day and I slid it under the calender. She asked me if I had seen it. I said no. She found it a couple weeks later. It's a big laugh now.

hey alan what is that stuff that you spread over panels to smooth them ive seen it on shows where they spread it over the whole panel
is it just regular body filler or is it a special filler
its usually green

thats poly fill. its alot smother and dosnet get near the pin holes or sand scratches. you can use it over primer also. but its hard as a rock. you can also use poly flex

Check your local AutoBody supply.

Spent the evening sanding. Yehaw!



Bottom of cab still in work. Sanding is bad enough, but laying underneath the cab makes it worse. I'm using DA's as much as possible.



Here are some DA's that I use. I hardly use the one on the right. It is very aggressive and the counter weight can bust knuckles and rip off fingernails. I know all too well. I love the one on the left. It has a fine cut and won't remove fingernails. The mini DA 3" is great for door jambs and tight areas.

lol ive used all three love them also have the HOG.. for when I realy need to get the bondo off.

as far as which to use... poly flex is more for plastic or stuff that will flex more. poly fill is great as a final but only can bea about 1/6 to 1/32 thick or it will crack....its not somthink to use to fill anything . just kinda level.. you can use the same stuff as alan his slick sand method is best for large panels.

If I need to skim something I use Metal Glaze #416. It's some great stuff. Don't use to fill. It's like syrup, very runny.
