Re: Project '86
Yes sir, gauges in the center. I really like the Autometer Prestige series but I'm not a big fan of the $700 price tag.

Re: Project '86
That looks good, I'm amazed at how you changed the look of a flat piece of steel with a bead roller and dimple dies, and made it look like it belongs. It's simple but it looks really good. I look forward to seeing more of your dash/interior work.

Looking great! Any plan for the corner you can see through the window? (clipping it/rounding slightly)

Re: Project '86
I just noticed that myself, I will have to take another look. I think the angle of the photo makes it look worse. The end pieces follow the curve of the door so straight from the side I know you can't see it. I will likely just tie it into the door panel if it looks out of place.

Re: Project '86
Thanks, that is probably about it for now on the dash. I can't do more until I get some gauges and they are pretty low on my list right now. Next I will be fabbing the tranny hump and smoothing the firewall.

Re: Project '86
Looking around for gauges and I found these
http://stores.newvintageusa-store.co...uad/Detail.bok They would fill the dash real well and I dig the 5" size. They come with all mounting hardware, wiring, and sending units and are made in Michigan where they should know how to build gauges. Thoughts/comments? Re: Project '86
Hey Man, I just stumbled across your thread I really like what you've done so far, so I gotta subscribe. Hopefully, one of these evenings I can sit down and go over every posting. I'm doing a LS conversion to my '81 square and I'm sure you've already figured out a ton of stuff on your truck that I probably won't try doing on mine. Keep it up and I look forward to the next step on it.
Oh, I like the gauges. I'm going that way myself because I'm planning on making my new dash resemble those in the '47-'54 models that use the two gauge setup. |

Re: Project '86
Looking good. Love the way the trans tunnel is looking. And those gauges are nice. But my favorite is the invisible lower control arms. crossmember, etc......
