Last ones for now. Check out the McD's truck. Apparently the sport trucks were doing it before the Donks?

I never liked the lowered rear fenders on Cruz Pedregon's truck.

Not sure if it's also his, but I posted pics of a similar colored 2dr/2wd Tahoe in that pic thread. It has the same style rear fender treatment.

It probably is. The Tahoe looks familiar, but I remember reading articles on the truck. If you look at the full shot of the truck you have posted here you can see the Tahoe and if you look at the Tahoe shots you posted, you can see the nose of the truck in a shot.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Part II

Several pics from the 1997 Sport Truck Nationals in Owensboro, KY. I was at that show. I was visiting family in Owensboro that weekend, so I got to check it out. It was the first show where I ever saw trucks with 20s. It was also the first show that I saw a bodydropped S10. I was freaking out over that.

There was also an extended crew short bed dually there. The guy had wrecked his dually, so when he rebuilt it, he got a 3-door extended cab and added it onto his crew to make for a 5-door extended crew cab. It was pretty trick.

I especially remember this truck. "The truck with 2 hoods." I saw it later that summer at a local show/cruise. It was built by a shop in Irving, TX called Affordable Customs. I never figured out how they engineered the 2 hoods, but it was done so they could have an "open hood" at shows without having a detailed engine compartment.

Cool! According the Sportruck, it was '98. Bringing back memories can be fun. That's neat with the double hood idea. Got me wondering now, haha. Don't see any coverage pics of that dually, but it sounds neat as well.

Here's some more from that show:

Yeah, you're right! It was '98. My truck was in the shop while I was there getting its first respray and shaved steps.

I ran into a guy from my local town while I was at the show and I met a couple guys who (unknown at the time) I would join a club with and who I talked with a lot on Sportruck.com (BagdHoe & booger).

I took pics of it, but that was back in the film days and I don't even know if I ever got those rolls developed.

I remember this truck too. My cousin's husband and I were looking it over. I remember really wanting a set of Vette wheels on my truck at the time. Just inside those doors behind it, Sport Truck was having a live build of a silver S10.

Cool! I got my first truck (my '93) in '98, so I was just a newbie at that time. That sucks about the dually pics. I've got lots of random old pics from the film days on the hard drive we pulled from our old desk top computer. Last Christmas we went through a bunch of old albums of truck pics my dad had taken through the years. That's always fun!

I was just a newbie then too. I got my '91 in may of '96. I totally went off on a friend of mine when he asked if I was going to lower it. "It's a truck! If I wanted a car, I would have gotten one!" I told him. I installed my first 2/4 drop, a billet grille insert and a rollpan in early spring of '98. That was the catalyst that set it all off. I had the steps and tailgate handle shaved and rollpan molded in that May. After the bodywork, I updated to a '96 grille with 30-bar insert and a smooth front bumper. In late June it went back to the shop for the first paint job. When it came out, I installed my 17" Weld wheels and finished off the drop with the 5/8.

Haha, I remember those days as well. I think my first modification was either the sport mirrors or roll pan. An old guy backed into my truck while it was parked at the bank. My dad suggested "upgrading" to the roll pan. I think insurance money was enough to cover the roll pan purchase, & I think dad paid for the paint. By the time I graduated in '01, it had a cowl hood, full exhaust, & engine goodies. I had been through 2 sets of wheels as well. Even in it's redneck conversion truck style, it was well known & liked around town. It got the first full repaint & phantom grille in '02 I believe, & the Sportruck.com guys set me straight around '03 I think. That's when the running boards got ditched, & the 5/8 drop came along. Of course it screwed up the paint when I pulled the boards, so that eventually led to the 2-tone primer look.

Still wish I could come across a nice set of 17 or 18" old school billets for the Tahoe. I was digging through pics on Google the other day when one of your truck popped up from back in the day. I did find these wheels, but they'd need some work; however, I really would prefer a 5-spoke design of some sort.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Part II

I still have my old 17" Weld Tomahawks from back in the day.

I had sold them to a friend when I bought my 19/20 Boyds. When he was getting ready to sell his truck, he gave me first dibs to buy my wheels back. I did. Sadly, they need a lot of TLC. I need to send them up to Oklahoma to a former club member who now does wheel repair/refinishing. I don't know how anyone could possibly do it, but he curbed the crap out of 2 of those wheels even with massive 275/60 tires.

Yep, you already told me. I had PM'd you to see if you still had them back when I decided I wanted to look for an old school set of billets. You said you were planning to keep & fix them. That really does suck that he messed them up, & it's definitely questionable as to how it could happen with a 275/60. It's a great looking wheel though! Maybe one day I'll come across something similar. I suppose I could splurge on new 17 or 18-inch Vintecs like I would love to have, but that'll probably be a while.

PMs start to run together after a while.

One of these days I'll get those wheels cleaned up.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Part II

Nice driveway JB

Man those retro pics are taking me back...Even back then, I preferred simple solid paint schemes, so the crazy paint jobs never really appealed to me, but the WHEELS...Center Line, Budnik, Colorado Customs, Boyds, Welds, etc...I loved 'em all. 1bad, you were talking about seeing your first set of 20s; I remember the first set of 17s I saw on one of these trucks - Colorado Customs, on a dark blue 92 GMC shortwide lowered 4/6 - and it knocked my socks off. That sure seems like a long time ago now!

Lol, I hear ya. More than I care to spend on wheels at the moment though! And of course they'd need new tires too.

Some more retro for you guys, although some would still fit in today I think:
