Re: Project: Shiro
Been a couple of weeks since I have posted any updates, not much going on. I am in wallet recovery mode from the cab repairs and will be for a bit so I have been working on things that done need money thrown at it. Cab/bed placement has been the focus for the last 2 weeks and I have been getting my butt kicked by the gap between the cab and the bed. The passenger side is .875" and the driver side is 1.125"... a .250" cause serious frustration.
Going to order another set of tubs from the folks at Nsane Hot Rodz tomorrow so that I can widen these by 1.5" make a little more wiggle room for the wheels and tires. And some room for future growth...

Re: Project: Shiro
Vic1947 was having the same issue with his bed before he put the truck away to work on his 1957 Ford. He thinks the frame is bent, not 100% sure till he pulls it back out and sends it to the frame shop to revisit the issue. He moved the core support, cab and bed around to compensate for the gap and the holes for the cab and core supports weren't close to lining up.

Re: Project: Shiro
I know that you have a steel floor bed, but check the bed to make sure it is square when bolted together. If its not, that just adds to the frustration....

Re: Project: Shiro
Shiro will be parted out, be on the lookout in the classifieds. I will be doing the partout in a specific order; wheels, engine/trans, chassis, and finally the body.

Re: Project: Shiro
The plain truth is that I have built this truck beyond my means and it has to go. At this point there is no plan to replace the truck.

Re: Project: Shiro
I hate to hear this.
But the plain truth is,... it would take another big wad of cash to finish this truck. Alot of people don't see that,... but I do. Quality paint and interior is just two of the big ticket items. (Have you priced paint materials lately? CRAZY!) Good luck with the part out.

Re: Project: Shiro
Aw Man. That truly does suck.
I only read the first page of the build (honeymoon) and then jumped to the last page (divorce) hoping to see a bad*ss truck finished. Don't feel bad, it happens to the best of us all at one time or another. Unfortunately those (hard) lessons are what really teach us. You will live to fight another day and do another hot rod at some point in time, only then you will be sooooo much wiser and make more solid choices. Keep coming back to the site. Your wisdom "could" be so valuable to someone else jumping in head first.

Stinks to hear, but understand. I'm spending way more, and taking way longer, than I ever expected when I purchased my first truck.
