I used rustoleum white, hand painted bunch of coats, and international red, I thought it was redder than the original. In fact I think it is a sort of red orange mix. Same color as the tag c-10 bowtie. Most bowties are faded too. That's a long way of saying I don't really know. But I couldn't bear to have it too orange with a greenish turquoise truck color. I may change it to a brighter red.

Your top bolt looks like the hole has been modified some on the frame. The mounting holes look correct through. Are there any casting #'s on the box?

I wrote PPG and tried to get some clarification on the color with no response. We had a big forum discussion on the hub cap thread about it. A lot of consensus that it was Cardinal Red originally....but with no contact back from PPG its hard to say.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Replaced the radiator, water pump, heater core, and installed a clutch fan. The water pump had a bad bearing, so the old one went back in and returned the new one for a refund because I've spent more money on anti-freeze than the water pump. The old water pump wasn't bad, just figured it made sense to replace the original while everything was apart ... so much for that.

The best part, after 3 months of being off the road for all kinds of fixes and upgrades, my daily driver is again my daily driver. Some of this included replaceing the trailing arms; complete rebuild of all brakes; had the rockers, cab supports and other misc. pieces of metal welded in; painted the rockers, steering wheel, and kick panels; replaced the carpet with vinyl mat; swapped out the POS turn signals for a Wells unit and more. The "TO DO" list is way shorter than the completed list and I'm on the road with the windows down, finally enjoying my summer.

Nice.....glad its back on the road. I'm working on it as fast as possible myself. Been down around 5-6 weeks and it's killing me.

How bad does it hit....can you trim the corner of the outer bumper bracket to clear?

I read that thread awhile ago, and it did say cardinal red, and had a color patch as an example. I compared it to international harvester red,(do it center hardwares), and they are very close, imho. In a few years it may fade perfectly to cardinal red. But at 1964 and a few other years it said light red, code 11. I'm not suggesting anyone paint it international red because I know it is not exact. The hubcaps are expensive on ebay like 200.00 and up for a set, then you still have to paint them if they are the white and red ones.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Had a chance a while back to buy a set off a fella on the west side of Puget Sound a while ago for my c20. They were rough but good shape. He wasn't home when I got there. And all 4 for 20 bucks! He's long since scrapped the truck but I wished I could've gotten them sooner. I'm still kicking my a $$ to this day over that......

I had no idea the hubcaps would be so expensive. Personally if I were looking I'd get a rough set for cheap because it looks like they all need paint. Good luck, I know you will eventually find em, just be patient for a good $.

Heck pimpstone those would be worth it. Not many chrome ones left. Especially c20 caps.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

I finall found some nuts that fit the brake lines to hold them to the frame, put the wheels on, moved it over in the driveway (fun with no brakes), tightened up the LCA shaft ends, tightened up the bumper brackets. Tomorrow MC/booster install and start on the brake lines.

Been there and done the whole move the truck with no brakes. Had to move the 63 short fleet under the carport a few weeks back. 10% down grade and no brakes.....left 30' boot slicks from dragging feet out the door.....but got it moved. Luckily I have a very large yard, so no risk of running into anything.

Glad to hear of the positive progress!!
